We observed three patients with isolated retinal arterial aneurysms and obtained a clinicopathologic correlation in one of them. All three were hypertensive and in the sixth or seventh decade of life. Fatty exudates were present around the aneurysms, taking the form of large circinate rings in two cases. Microscopic examination in one case revealed a retinal arterial aneurysm with an extensive fibroglial reaction around it. Central retinal arterial occlusion is an ocular emergency. Central retinal artery occlusion following cardiac procedures have been described in adults. We describe a pediatric patient who developed central retinal artery occlusion following pulmonary artery stenting. It is important to highlight this potential risk to ensure early diagnosis and prompt treatment.

The filling times of the retinal and choroidal circulation were evaluated in 17 patients with central retinal artery occlusion by means of fluorescein angiography. A correlation between the filling times of the two circulations was found. However, two filling patterns were seen: first, both fillings delayed; second, both fillings normal. To report a case of stroke with internal carotid artery (ICA) occlusion and retinal artery occlusion (RAO) with multiple emboli identified by infrared images. We observed two patients who had combined central retinal artery occlusion and central retinal vein occlusion with severely reduced visual acuity and characteristic retinal changes. Over the course of several months, visual acuity and ophthalmoscopic appearance returned to normal. Both patients had a transient visual loss before their occlusive events and a mild nonconcurrent central retinal vein occlusion in their fellow eye. There was no evidence of inflammatory, vascular, or myeloproliferative disease.
