Robotically assisted cardiac surgery: minimally invasive techniques to totally endoscopic heart surgery.

Over the past decade, advancements in cardiac surgery occurred secondary to improvements in technology and the desire for a less invasive approach to operations in general. Minimally invasive cardiac surgery has progressed from partial sternotomy incisions to totally endoscopic open-heart procedures with robotic-assistance. There are 2 major companies that produce robotic equipment for use in cardiac surgery. These companies must undergo Food and Drug Association (FDA) mandated clinical trials on each cardiac surgical procedure, before it can be approved for public use. The surgeon must demons

[Design and Analysis of a Rigid-Flexible Hybrid Fracture Reduction Robot].

To address the technical bottlenecks of minimally invasive closed reduction and intramedullary nailing (IMN), a rigid-flexible hybrid minimally invasive fracture reduction robot is proposed. The system leverages the compliant contact properties and continuous deformation capabilities of soft materials to ensure reduction accuracy while satisfying the compliance and safety requirements of the fracture reduction process. Additionally, based on the anatomical and physiological characteristics of the human lower limbs, a femoral shaft fracture model is developed, accounting for the presence of sof

Robot-Assisted Laparoscopic Partial Colpectomy and Intracorporeal Ileal Conduit Urinary Diversion (Bricker) for Cervical Adenocarcinoma Recurrence.

Ileal conduit urinary diversion (Bricker) is a standard surgical open procedure. The Da Vinci robot allowed precision for this surgical procedure, especially for intracorporeal suturing. Meanwhile, few reports of robot-assisted laparoscopic ileal conduit diversion (Bricker) are described in the literature. We report the case of a 69-year-old patient with a vaginal recurrence of cervical adenocarcinoma associated with vesicovaginal fistula treated by robot-assisted laparoscopic partial colpectomy and ileal conduit urinary diversion (Bricker). The robot-assisted laparoscopic procedure followed a

Adjustment of the Length Variation With Wire-driven Using the Stand Looper Tension Technique for Surgical Robot Applications.

MOTIVATION: The wire-driven method used in the field of surgical robots has the advantage of light weight. However, in the process of pull and push for the operation of forceps, the length of the wire is not match, causing malfunction. To solve this problem, the application of looper-tension technology would be suitable. This paper contributes to adjusting the length of the wire by inserting a stand between the wire-driven joints and adding a looper-tension between the stands to adjust the rotation radius of the roll. METHODS: The method consisting of three rolls and loopers for connection be
