PURPOSE: This clinical focus article presents an illustration of a complex communication intervention, the Social Communication Intervention Programme (SCIP), as delivered to a child who has a social communication disorder (SCD). The SCIP intervention combined language processing and pragmatic and social understanding therapies in a program of individualized therapy activities and in close liaison with families.
METHOD: The study used an enhanced AB single-subject design in which an 8-year-old child with an SCD participated in 20 therapy sessions with a specialist speech-language pathologist.

BACKGROUND: Europe has witnessed a significant increase in immigration over the last 20 years, which has been associated with complex public health issues. The immigrants, such as refugees, asylum seekers, and economic migrants, are exposed to various social exclusion processes and integration barriers that may increase their vulnerability to drug-related risk behaviours. Although there is increasing awareness of this problem, there is a dearth of research synthesising the interplay of social exclusion, integration barriers and substance use among immigrant groups in European settings.

BACKGROUND: Individuals who are unable to meet their basic needs are more likely to respond reactively to their immediate social and financial hardships with behaviors that lead to "diseases of despair," which include suicide, drug overdose, and alcohol-induced liver diseases. We sought to assess the feasibility of a community-to-clinic referral approach for diseases of despair-related behaviors.
METHODS: Guided by the Model for Adaptation Design and Impact, we adapted existing clinical risk assessments into a six-item screener and integrated it into the PA 211 Southwest helpline's workflow.

This paper examines socioeconomic (socioeconomic status, SES) disparities in self-rated health and hypertension among 29,816 US adults aged 25 and older using data from the 2001 wave of the National Health Interview Survey. This article develops a cultural and relational model of political polarisation that integrates insights from currently disconnected streams of scholarship to conceive polarisation as a discursive and preformative struggle over sacred meanings. Rather than treating polarisation as mere attitudinal divergence, we frame it as the symbolic organization of political antagonism.
