We report here a 72-year-old man with severe, persistent, iron deficiency anaemia. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed red stripes radiating to the pylorus, characteristic of watermelon stomach (gastric antral vascular ectasia). The patient was found to have scleroderma with calcinosis, sclerodactyly, and telangiectasias, but neither Raynaud's phenomenon nor oesophageal dysmotility. OBJECTIVE: To improve the diagnostic rate of local amyloidosis of stomach.
METHOD: One case of local amyloidosis of stomach was reported and the literatures were reviewed on the etiopathology, clinical features, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.

Based on own experience and on the published literature we report about indications and efficiency of endosonography (EUS) in gastric tumors. The following conclusions can be drawn at the present time. Submucous tumors can be clearly differentiated from extragastric compressions. Although the endosonographic aspect does not allow to formulate an etiologic diagnosis, EUS findings can give hints regarding the nature of the submucous tumor (e.g. leiomyoma, lipoma, cyst). Patients with ventricular ulcer (n = 109) were examined endoscopically and bioptically concerning the frequency of an at the same time existing gastritis. It was shown that stomachs with ulcer practically without any exception, i.e. in 96 per cent, had a pangastritis. Studies of motility of the stomach in 10 test-persons resulted in a significant reduction of motility after a 2-day period of perorally intake of Lyspafen. The active motoric substance is diffenoxin-hydrochloride. An addition of 0,025 mg Atropin sulfate could increase the effect. The effect is independent of the clinical diagnose. A "runaway" could be explained by an intolerance against lactose. The waves of type I are less influenced, such as the frequency of the waves of contraction.

Pseudomelanosis duodeni is characterized by endoscopic findings of black or black-brown speckled pigmentation in the duodenal mucosa, usually diagnosed via biopsy. This report presents a case of a 75-year-old male presented with left lower abdominal pain, change in bowel habits, and decreased appetite. Gastroduodenoscopy and biopsies of the duodenum and antrum lead to the diagnosis of pseudomelanosis duodeni.
