High incidence of goitre in human together with low level of iodine in water and cow milk have been observed in Southern Poland (Table I). Therefore, iodine deficiency was considered as the only cause of goiter development. Over a 19-month period, all requests for blood cyanide and/or serum thiocyanate concentrations to the Clinical Laboratory of The Children's Hospital, Boston, were reviewed in order to determine how physicians screen for nitroprusside-related toxicity. Methylene-bis-thiocyanate is an antimicrobial agent in Cytox 3522 (American Cyanamid Corporation) and Nalco 206 (Nalco Chemical Company). Both are wide-spectrum industrial biocides. Cytox 3522 showed a strong sensitization potential in guineau pigs using the Guinea Pig Maximization Test and the Open Epicutaneous Test procedures. In spite of this, human sensitization has not been reported. This may be explained by several factors such as limited exposure, low-use concentration and a lack of diagnostic patch tests in selected patients.

The phonon transport properties of CuSCN and CuSeCN have been investigated using the density functional theory and semiclassical Boltzmann transport theory.
