Iatrogenic vesicocolic fistula after gynecologic surgery: a case report.

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: We present a unique case of a vesicocolic fistula (VCF) that occurred postoperatively after ovarian cyst surgery, caused by the migration of an intraoperatively forgotten gauze into the urinary bladder. This represents a very rare etiology of VCFs. CASE PRESENTATION: A patient who had undergone surgery for a giant left ovarian cyst 5 months prior presented with recurrent urinary tract infections and an ultrasound image suggestive of a bladder stone. Cystoscopy, contrast-enhanced computed tomography, and colonoscopy confirmed a VCF with an intravesical foreign body

Enterovesical Fistula Secondary to Transitional Cell Carcinoma of the Bladder.

Although fistulae between the urinary bladder and the gastrointestinal tract are not uncommon, those caused by carcinoma of the urinary bladder are rare. This report describes the case of an 85 years old male who was diagnosed with a mass involving the small bowel and the urinary bladder during the course of investigation for recurrent urinary tract infections. At laparotomy, the presence of an enterovesical fistula involving the ileum and bladder was confirmed. Histopathological examination of the resected mass showed poorly differentiated urothelial carcinoma. No early postoperative complica

Epididymo-orchitis secondary to colovesical fistula.

Epididymo-orchitis is a common urological condition that can be caused by a variety of etiologies, including retrograde extension of a urinary tract infection. Colovesical fistulas are frequent sequelae of diverticulitis that allow for communication between the colon and urinary bladder. Such fistulas facilitate the spread of enteric bacteria into the urinary bladder, with possible subsequent spread throughout the rest of the genitourinary system. Retrograde extension into the epididymis and testis is very rare, however. We present the case of a 38 year old man with epididymo-orchitis secondar
