The Getah virus (GETV), a mosquito-borne RNA virus, is widely distributed in Oceania and Asia. GETV is not the only pathogenic to horses, pigs, cattle, foxes and boars, but it can also cause fever in humans. Since its first reported case in Chinese mainland in 2017, the number of GETV-affected provinces has increased to seventeen till now. Western equine encephalitis virus (WEEV) is a zoonotic alphavirus that circulates in western North America between passerine birds and mosquitoes, primarily Culex tarsalis. Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) virus was isolated from the cerebrospinal fluid of a 6-year-old male who had clinically diagnosed aseptic meningitis and subsequently died. Several standard serologic tests that use polyclonal antibody and indirect immunofluorescence and hemagglutination inhibition tests that use monoclonal antibody provided evidence that the isolate was an antigenic subtype of prototype North American EEE virus. We believe that this is the first evidence of an antigenic subtype of EEE virus.

Malaria remains a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in West Africa, but the contribution of other vector-borne infections (VBIs) to the burden of disease has been understudied.
