We report on the use of visible light photoredox catalysis for the radical Smiles rearrangement of 2-aryloxybenzoic acids to obtain aryl salicylates. The method is free of noble metals and operationally simple and the reaction can be run under mild batch or flow conditions. Being a redox neutral process, no stoichiometric oxidants or reductants are needed.

AIM OF THE STUDY: To evaluate the influence of Humulus lupulus extract on sexual behavior in female rats.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Ovariectomized rats hormonally primed with estradiol benzoate (1.5 μg/rat) and progesterone (500 μg/rat) were acutely treated by oral gavage with Humulus lupulus extract dosed at 5, 10 and 25mg/kg and then tested for partner preference and sexual receptivity.

The existence of sexual dimorphism (SDM) in tubules and acini of the submaxillary gland was investigated in male and female 60 day-old Wistar rats. Conventional histology was followed by evaluation of 1) Percentage of area occupied by tubules, acini, and other tissues and 2) Tubular area, employing a semi-automatic image analyser. Metabolism of aminopyrine, sodium benzoate and toxicity of cyclophosphamide were studied in 185 male rats under conditions of various content of vitamin B1 in the animals. The mol wt (Mr) of intact murine PRL is approximately 23,000. Immunoblotting analysis shows a 21,000 Mr band in fresh rat and mouse pituitary extracts that cross-reacts strongly with PRL antibodies.
