The emerging porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) requires trypsin supplementation to activate its S protein for membrane fusion and virus propagation in cell culture. By substitution of a single amino acid in the S protein, we created a recombinant PEDV with an artificial furin protease cleavage site N terminal of the putative fusion peptide (PEDV-SFCS). PEDV-SFCS exhibited trypsin-independent cell-cell fusion and was able to replicate in culture cells independently of trypsin, though to low titer.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship of BCL-10 protein and API2-MALT1 fusion gene in MALT lymphoma.
METHODS: Specimens from 86 cases of MALT lymphoma were studied by immunohistochemical staining for BCL-10. RT-PCR was used to detect the transcripts of API2-MALT1 fusion gene.

Sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma (SNSCC) comprises a heterogeneous group of tumors with emerging molecular subtypes. Human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated SNSCC is a distinct entity, although actionable genomic alterations beyond HPV-driven pathways remain underexplored. Distinguishing HPV-associated SNSCC from carcinoma ex inverted papilloma can be particularly challenging in limited biopsy specimens, as these lesions may appear morphologically similar. INTRODUCTION: Rearranged during transfection (RET) gene rearrangements occur in 1%-2% of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Because of the results of the study LIBRETTO-001, selpercatinib has been approved as the first-line treatment for patients with RET fusion-positive advanced NSCLC. Selpercatinib demonstrated to be well tolerated. Despite this, gastrointestinal adverse events (AEs) are frequently reported, and no clinical-radiological and endoscopic features and their impact in terms of treatment discontinuations, interruptions, and dose reductions have been described so far.
