Three patients, each of whom had required intensive open-ended antimicrobial therapy for control of the symptoms of chronic relapsing neurological Lyme disease and relapsing babesiosis, were able to discontinue treatment and remain clinically well for periods of observation of 6-23 months following the completion of a finite course of treatment solely with disulfiram. One patient relapsed at six months and is being re-treated with disulfiram.

PURPOSE: To investigate systemic oxidative stress by evaluating thiol-disulfide homeostasis using a novel automated homeostasis assay in keratoconus patients.
METHODS: Twenty-eight patients with keratoconus and 30 control subjects of a similar age and gender were enrolled in the present study. Using the close-aperture Z-scan technique, the pure nonlinear refractive index (n2) of carbon disulfide is measured with a 76 MHz repetition rate femtosecond laser. Strong interference of thermal effects exists with high-repetition-rate lasers that result in negative values of n2. BACKGROUND: Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency is commonly detected during mass screening for neonatal disease. We developed a method to measure reduced glutathione (GSH) and glutathione disulfide (GSSG) using tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) for detecting G6PD deficiency.

N-Chlorosuccinimide is described as a widely applicable on-resin disulfide-forming reagent. Disulfide bond formation was completed within 15 min in DMF. This strategy was successfully used in the synthesis of oxytocin and a regioselective synthesis of an α-conotoxin.
