The paper describes a new, simple, selective and precise high-performance thin-layer chromatographic (HPTLC) method for the simultaneous identification and quantitative determination of boric acid (BA) and calcium fructoborate (CFB) in bulk and tablet/capsule dosage forms of dietary supplements. HPTLC silica gel G 60 F254 precoated glass plates were used as the stationary phase. The mobile phase consisted of 2-propanol-water 8:2 (v/v). The two boron-based compounds were adequately separated with the Rf values of 0.83 ± 0.01 (BA) and 0.59 ± 0.01 (CFB).

Three thousand eight hundred and twelve patients participated in the TemporELLES survey; these patients were treated for breast cancer with intravenous chemotherapy in 105 different outpatient clinics in France. The records of 15 patients with cortisone psychoses were studied retrospectively. Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) was initially described more than 100 years ago by Charcot, Marie, and Tooth. It was only recently, however, that molecular genetic studies of CMT have uncovered the underlying causes of most forms of the diseases. Most cases of CMT1 are associated with a 1.5-Mb tandem duplication in 17p11.2-p12 that encompasses the PMP22 gene. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of dienogest (DNG), a progestational 19-norsteroid, in patients with primary and secondary dysmenorrhea.
DESIGN: Phase III, randomized, double-blind, multicenter, placebo-controlled study.
SETTING: Clinical study sites in Japan.
PATIENT(S): Ninety-four women with dysmenorrhea.
INTERVENTION(S): Random assignment to receive DNG (1 mg/day, orally) or placebo for 12 weeks; patients treated for anemia before randomization in cases of complicated anemia.
