Two patients with ectopic pancreas, associated with pancreas divisum are presented. In one of these patients MDCT examination showed an island of pancreatic parenchyma, isolated from the pancreatic head and located within the anterior wall of the duodenal bulb, where ectopic pancreas could be confirmed by endoscopy. BACKGROUND: The use of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) for morbid obesity has raised concern that subsequent endoscopic evaluation of the gastric remnant and duodenum is difficult. By gaining percutaneous access to the gastric remnant, however, both gastroduodenoscopy and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) can be performed easily. The aim of this study was to clarify the characteristics of pancreatic head carcinomas mainly invading the groove between the duodenum and the pancreatic head. Nine patients with pathologically proven pancreatic head carcinomas underwent thin-slice dynamic CT, MR imaging, duodenal endoscopy, and angiography (seven patients). Physaloptera infections were diagnosed endoscopically in 18 dogs. Each case had vomiting as the primary clinical sign, and four cases had regurgitation as a concurrent sign. Fecal flotations, using magnesium sulfate solution, were performed in 12 of the 18 cases and were negative for Physaloptera eggs. In 12 of the 18 cases, only one worm was seen during endoscopic examination. Fifteen of 18 cases were treated with pyrantel pamoate, and 10 of 12 cases with follow-up had resolution of their vomiting.

Due to the systemic nature of Whipple's disease the clinical presentation may be highly variable. The diagnosis may therefore be unduly delayed. UNLABELLED: PURPOSE PATIENTS AND METHODS: Helicobacter pylori (HP) is present in more than 90% of duodenal ulcers (DUs). To investigate the pathophysiology in those patients with DU who are HP-negative compared with those who are HP-positive, we interviewed consecutive patients prior to endoscopy regarding factors often associated with ulcer disease. We present here our findings on patients with an elevated lesion of the duodenal bulb. All these patients were treated in our clinics between the years 1984 and 1988. These lesions were present in 36 of 8,802 patients who underwent upper gastrointestinal pan-endoscopy. Two patients had a duodenal carcinoma, 2 an adenoma, and 1 a Brunner's gland adenoma. In a randomized design we examined whether endoscopists are biased by knowledge of the radiologic diagnosis of duodenal ulcer and deformity of the duodenal bulb when recording the corresponding endoscopic diagnoses. The incidence and relationship of intestinal metaplasia of the gastric antrum and gastric metaplasia of the first part of the duodenum were studied in endoscopic biopsies from 120 patients with nonulcer dyspepsia. A case of vanishing bone disease is presented, with radiologic, endoscopic, and peritoneoscopic evidence of angiomatous involvement of the bones, surrounding soft tissues, and gastrointestinal tract.
