A case is reported concerning echocardiographic findings in a patient with congenital corrected transposition of the great vessels and Ebstein's anomaly of the tricuspid valve. This presented an unusual opportunity to study atrioventricular valve closure in a patient in whom the Ebstein's malformation involved the systemic atrioventricular valve. The mitral to tricuspid valve closure interval was 68 milliseconds and represented significant delay in tricuspid valve closure. This closure interval is similar to closure intervals previously reported for patients with Ebstein's anomaly without vent

The surgical treatment of Ebstein's anomaly is discussed on the basis of our experience with 7 patients who underwent operation at this clinic during the last ten years. The age of the patients (2 males, 5 females) ranged from 17 to 47 years (mean 27 years) at the time of operation. Two patients were in functional class II and five in classes III or IV (N.Y.H.A.). The Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome was concomitant in 2/7 cases and patent foramen ovale or atrial septal defect (ASD) with right-to-left shunt was present in 6/7 cases. The valvular anomaly was typical in 5 patients and stenosis of

The tricuspid valve is left-sided in congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries and other cardiac malformations in which the ventricles are inverted. In an anatomical study of 20 hearts with ventricular inversion, nine were found to have Ebstein's anomaly of the left-sided tricuspid valve. These included eight with congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries and one with a double outlet inverted right ventricle. Pathoanatomically left-sided Ebstein's anomaly differed from the classic right-sided variety in several respects: 1) the atrioventricular sulcus circumfe

A case with Ebstein's anomaly associated with large left to right atrial shunt was operated upon. The patient did not demonstrate any tricuspid insufficiency in spite of the downward displacement of the septal and posterior leaflets of tricuspid valve. The surgical closure of the atrial septal defect relieved the impending heart failure. The pulmonary congestion disappeared but the cardiomegaly persisted after the operation.

We report the case of a 52-year-old woman with severe tricuspid regurgitation due to Ebstein's anomaly. She underwent surgery through a 2.5 cm right minithoracotomy incision under three-dimensional endoscopic visualization. After identification of the atrialized right ventricle and the displaced attachments of the septal leaflet and part of the posterior leaflet within the atrialized segment, plication of the atrialized portion was performed to exclude it. The displaced leaflet attachment level within the atrialized right ventricle was regarded as the functional tricuspid annulus and served as

BACKGROUND: Ebstein's anomaly is a rare congenital heart disease characterized by apical displacement of the tricuspid valve and a small functional right ventricle. Surgical repair, particularly cone reconstruction, may be complicated by atrioventricular conduction disturbances requiring permanent pacing.
CASE SUMMARY: A 47-year-old woman with Ebstein's anomaly underwent cone repair and developed complete heart block postoperatively. Because of her distorted right-sided anatomy and concerns regarding long-term dys-synchrony with right ventricular endocardial pacing, left bundle branch area pa

Congenital Mullerian anomalies are rare developmental defects that result in malformation of the fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, and vagina. The bicornuate uterus is one of the many variants of Mullerian anomalies, defined as having an external fundal indentation of greater than one centimeter. Pelvic ultrasound has a sensitivity of 99% for identifying bicornuate uteruses and is the predominant imaging device used for diagnosis. The cervical and uterine cavity anatomy in patients with a bicornuate uterus varies. The effect of maternal uterine structure on offspring development has been poorly

INTRODUCTION: and importance: Ebstein's anomaly (EA) is a rare congenital heart disease characterized by apical displacement of the tricuspid valve associated with atrialization of the right ventricle. Most of the cases are diagnosed in childhood but asymptomatic cases may remain undiagnosed and survive until old age.
CASE PRESENTATION: We present a rare case of Ebstein's Anomaly with pericardial effusion which was diagnosed for the first time in her mid-fifties when she developed atrial fibrillation and right heart failure with severe tricuspid regurgitation, which was managed medically.

INTRODUCTION: Prenatally diagnosed Ebstein's anomaly with tricuspid valve dysplasia (EA/TVD) is a rare and high-risk congenital heart malformation with limited effective treatments. We report a case of severe fetal EA with hydrops treated with modest doses of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) therapy, resulting in reversal of hydrops and a favorable fetal outcome.
CASE PRESENTATION: Fetal heart defects included an inferiorly displaced tricuspid valve, severe tricuspid regurgitation, significantly dilated right atrium, and hypoplastic pulmonary valve with moderate regurgitation resul

Prediction scores and metrics are being increasingly utilized throughout the fields of cardiothoracic and congenital cardiac surgery to identify areas for perioperative optimization or guide therapeutic intent. Here, we review a novel submission by Yang and colleagues to the Journal of Cardiac Surgery identifying preoperative factors that predict adverse postoperative outcomes from cone reconstruction for Ebstein's anomaly.

Ebstein's anomaly is a rare congenital heart disease with malformation of the tricuspid valve and myopathy of the right ventricle. The septal and inferior leaflets adhere to the endocardium due to failure of delamination. This leads to apical displacement of their hinge points with a shift of the functional tricuspid valve annulus towards the right ventricular outflow tract with a possibly restrictive orifice. Frequently, a coaptation gap yields tricuspid valve regurgitation and over time the "atrialized" portion of the right ventricle may dilate. The highly variable anatomy determines the cli
