Temporal changes in mental foramen blood flow following orthognathic surgery.

This prospective study aimed to assess temporal changes in vascularization and neurosensory function in the mental foramen region using Doppler ultrasonography (USG) and clinical sensory tests in patients undergoing orthognathic surgery. Sixteen patients with skeletal Class II or III malocclusion were included. Evaluations were performed at four time points: preoperatively (T0) and postoperatively at 1 week (T1), 1 month (T2), and 3 months (T3). Sensory assessments included pinprick, pressure (VAS), neurosensory sensitivity (VAS), brush, and two-point discrimination tests. Blood flow and menta

Full-Mouth Rehabilitation for a Patient with Angle Class II, Division 2-Associated Deep Overbite and Worn Dentition: Case Report with a 2-Year Follow-up and Literature Review.

Some of the critical clinical challenges encountered in the treatment of adult patients with deep overbite and worn dentition include correction of deep overbite, establishment of an appropriate occlusal vertical dimension (OVD), and maintenance of long-term occlusal stability. Although Angle Class II, division 2-associated deep anterior overbite is common in orthodontic treatment, simple prosthodontic treatment with great improvement of deep anterior overbite and worn dentition is infrequently reported. A 51-year-old man with Class II, division 2 malocclusion presented with a hypodivergent fa

Long-term stability of conservative orthodontic treatment in a patient with rheumatoid arthritis and severe condylar resorption.

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory condition that can result in progressive destruction of the articular surfaces of the joints, including the temporomandibular joint. The purpose of this article is to report the conservative correction of a Class II malocclusion in a woman with rheumatoid arthritis. The patient was 32 years 6 months old at the start of treatment. She had a convex profile and a skeletal Class II jaw-base relationship caused by severe condylar resorption. An anterior open bite of -2.0 mm and an excessive overjet of 10.0 mm were observed. Severe crowding was shown in

Effects of different surgical techniques and displacement distances on the soft tissue profile via orthodontic-orthognathic treatment of class II and class III malocclusions.

BACKGROUND: Orthognathic surgery can be carried out using isolated mandibular or maxillary movement and bimaxillary procedures. In cases of moderate skeletal malocclusion, camouflage treatment by premolar extraction is another treatment option. All these surgical procedures can have a different impact on the soft tissue profile. METHODS: The changes in the soft tissue profile of 187 patients (Class II: 53, Class III: 134) were investigated. The treatment approaches were differentiated as follows: Class II: mandible advancement (MnA), bimaxillary surgery (MxS/MnA), upper extraction (UpEX), or

Combined use of molar distalization and leeway space for class II division 1 malocclusion with odontoma-induced impacted maxillary right lateral incisor in the mixed dentition: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Treatment for Angle's Class II division 1 involves both extraction and non-extraction orthodontic therapy. Managing Class II division 1 malocclusion accompanied by maxillary anterior tooth impaction and anterior crowding in mixed dentition poses a therapeutic dilemma. Premolar extraction may face traction failure in the impacted tooth, resulting in excessive tooth loss, while extracting impacted teeth may compromise occlusion and anterior aesthetics, necessitating future restoration. Molar distalization as a non-extraction approach often face challenges in providing sufficient spac
