Evaluation of the performance of different large language models on head and neck anatomy questions in the dentistry specialization exam in Turkey.

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to assess the performance of various Large Language Models (LLMs) in addressing head and neck anatomy questions from the Dental Specialization Exam (DUS), conducted between 2012 and 2021. METHODS: A total of 103 multiple-choice questions were selected from DUS examinations over a decade. These questions covered major topics: Musculoskeletal System, Nervous System and Sensory Organs, Dental Anatomy, and Veins, Arteries, Lymphatic System and the Glandular System. Eight of the LLMs Gemini 1.5, Gemini 2, Copilot, Deepseek, Claude, ChatGPT 4o, ChatGPT 4, and Chat…

Prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders and rheumatic diseases in the indigenous Qom population of Rosario, Argentina.

This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders and rheumatic diseases among the indigenous Qom (Toba) population in the city of Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina. An analytical cross-sectional study using methodology of the Community Oriented Program for the Control of Rheumatic Diseases (COPCORD) was performed. Subjects ≥18 years of age were interviewed by advanced students of medicine and nursing, bilingual translator-facilitators, and coordinators. Individuals with musculoskeletal pain (positive cases) were evaluated sequentially for 7 days by internists and rheumatolog

Bone Reporting and Data System on MRI (Bone-RADS-MRI): a validation study by four readers on 275 cases from three local and two public databases.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the reproducibility and effectiveness of the Bone Reporting and Data System on MRI (Bone-RADS-MRI) for incidental solitary bone lesions in adults. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We retrospectively included 275 MRI cases from three local and two public databases, respectively. All the cases were histopathologically or clinically confirmed bone lesions, or "do not touch" lesions with typical appearance and remained stable for at least two years. Each lesion with gender, age, and clinical history was categorized according to the Bone-RADS algorithm by two musculoskeletal radiologi

Australian Research Related to Sporting and Musculoskeletal Injuries of the Foot and Ankle: A Bibliometric Analysis.

BACKGROUND: There is growing research evidence related to musculoskeletal and sports podiatry published by Australian researchers. This short report presents data from the musculoskeletal and sports podiatry stream of a national bibliometric review which aimed to map all Australian podiatry-related research from 1970 to 2024. METHODS: A systematic search of the literature was conducted via Scopus until December 2024. Studies were screened for eligibility using Covidence. Study meta-data was analysed using Biblioshiny to describe publications volume, authors, institutions, journals, and resear

Association between physical fitness and musculoskeletal health in firefighters.

Introduction: Firefighters are often placed in situations that require high levels of physical exertion, leading to significant strain on firefighters' musculoskeletal system, predisposing them to musculoskeletal discomfort (MSD) and/or musculoskeletal injury (MSI). Physical fitness programs are often recommended and justified, in part, to prevent injuries. The aim of this study was to determine the association between physical fitness and musculoskeletal health (MSH) in firefighters. Methods: A total of 308 full-time firefighters took part in the study conducted in Cape Town, South Africa. Ph…

Applying a Health Network approach to translate evidence-informed policy into practice: a review and case study on musculoskeletal health.

BACKGROUND: While translation of evidence into health policy and practice is recognised as critical to optimising health system performance and health-related outcomes for consumers, mechanisms to effectively achieve these goals are neither well understood, nor widely communicated. Health Networks represent a framework which offers a possible solution to this dilemma, particularly in light of emerging evidence regarding the importance of establishing relationships between stakeholders and identifying clinical leaders to drive evidence integration and translation into policy. This is particular

The quest for substrates and binding partners: A critical barrier for understanding the role of ADAMTS proteases in musculoskeletal development and disease.

Secreted ADAMTS metalloproteases are involved in the sculpting, remodeling, and erosion of connective tissues throughout the body, including in the musculoskeletal system. ADAMTS proteases contribute to musculoskeletal development, pathological tissue destruction, and are mutated in congenital musculoskeletal disorders. Examples include versican cleavage by ADAMTS9 which is required for interdigital web regression during limb development, ADAMTS5-mediated aggrecan degradation in osteoarthritis resulting in joint erosion, and mutations in ADAMTS10 or ADAMTS17 that cause Weill-Marchesani syndrom…

Mechanisms of adaptive interlimb coordination to sudden ground loss: a neuromusculoskeletal modeling study.

Mammals exhibit robust walking across diverse environments, a capability largely attributed to central pattern generators (CPGs) in the spinal cord. Afferent feedback modulates CPG output and plays a critical role in adaptive locomotion, yet its specific contributions remain poorly understood. To investigate this, we used a neuromusculoskeletal model to simulate hindlimb locomotion in spinalized cats encountering a hole and experiencing a sudden loss of ground support, as described in prior experimental studies. The model couples a trunk-and-hindlimb musculoskeletal system to a pair of two-lev…

Neurological assessment.

Neurological system assessment is an important skill for the orthopaedic nurse because the nervous system has such an overlap with the musculoskeletal system. Nurses whose scope of practice includes such advanced evaluation, e.g. nurse practitioners, may conduct the examination described here but the information will also be useful for nurses caring for patients who have abnormal neurological assessment findings. Within the context of orthopaedic physical assessment, possible neurological findings are evaluated as they complement the patient's history and the examiner's findings. Specific neur…

Advances in sonographic scoring of rheumatoid arthritis.

Accurate assessment of disease activity and joint damage in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is important for monitoring treatment efficiency and for prediction of the outcome of the disease. Therefore, a reliable imaging method needs to be used. Musculoskeletal ultrasound (US) is a sensitive method for the detection of both early inflammatory soft tissue lesions (eg, synovitis, tenosynovitis, and bursitis) and early bone lesions (eg, erosions) in arthritic joint diseases and correlates well with MRI. Several musculoskeletal US scores are used for monitoring RA disease activity. Different qualitative
