BACKGROUND: Bloom syndrome (BS) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by dwarfism and a predisposition to cancer. Squamous cell vaginal cancer is also quite rare and has not before been reported in association with BS.
CASE: A 37-year-old woman, para 0-0-2-0, with BS was referred to the gynecologic oncology service for a suspicious mass in the vagina associated with dyspareunia and vaginal bleeding. Medication related osteonecrosis of the jaw is becoming a repeatedly seen complication in cancer patients. Stage 0 of the disease is more likely to be seen by the patients' general dental practitioners. We are presenting four cases of MRONJ related to denosumab treatment showing increasingly aggressive pictures of the disease. Surgical palliative care (SPC) integrates the principles of symptom-based care and relief of suffering into traditional surgical practice. A toddler with bilateral retinoblastoma (Rb) received intravenous chemotherapy for advanced tumours in both eyes. The right eye required enucleation due to a poor response, but the left eye was salvaged by additional treatment with intravitreal chemotherapy for tumour vitreous seeds. We present three patients with primary hypothyroidism after previous radiotherapy of the neck area. Myxoedema coma occurred in one of these patients. Lifelong follow-up of thyroid function is recommended after radiotherapy of the neck. Monitoring of thyroid function should be performed at least once a year by the radiation oncologist or by the general practitioner.
