The hypersensitivity reactions of several synthetic dextran-polypeptides have been studied in guinea-pigs. Insulin, oxidized insulin peptide B and their dextran derivatives were found to cross-react. Oxidized insulin peptide A did not cross-react with insulin or dextran-insulin peptide A. Similarly poly-L-tyrosine did not cross-react with dextran-poly-L-tyrosine. The importance of IgE in airway inflammation and development of AHR in allergen-sensitized mice has been compared and contrasted in different models of sensitization and challenge. Using different modes of sensitization in normal and genetically manipulated mice after anti-IgE treatment, we have been able to distinguish the role of IgE under these different conditions. The half-lives of two classes of rat immunoglobulins with homocytotropic properties, i.e., IgE and IgG2a, in the circulating blood and in the skin were studied. The catabolism of both normal (reaginic) and pathological (myeloma) IgE proteins in circulation was found to be extremely rapid with a half-life of 12 h. Glaucocalyxin A (GLA) has various pharmacological effects like antioxidation, immune regulation, and antiatherosclerosis. Here, in this study, the effect and mechanism of GLA on mast cell degranulation were studied.
