The effect of several sulfhydryl and other agents on the rheologic and mucociliary transport properties of a model secretion, reconstituted canine tracheal mucus, was investigated. The presence of cocaine in illicit drug samples is still being determined in some laboratories using spot tests and microcrystal tests. This study compares the bioactive and elemental compositions of three edible mushroom species: Pleurotus ostreatus, Hericium coralloides, and Tuber aestivum. The results showed similar levels of antioxidants, polysaccharides, triterpenoids, and ascorbic acid across all species, but significant differences in other compounds. Ricinus seed litters were chosen as a cheap carbon source for lipase production by A. niger under solid state fermentation (SSF). Maximum lipase production was achieved upon using an enriched (potassium citrate and casein) waste at pH 7.8 and 30 degrees C for 8 days incubation.
