Antibiotic use in Türkiye: Everyday encounters of translating policy and negotiating rationality.

Antibiotic use surged during COVID-19 despite it being a viral illness, heightening global concerns about antimicrobial resistance (AMR). In … ldwork in Istanbul, this article shows how local expectations of antibiotics as symbols of care and professional competence shape prescription and use. Rather than aligning practice with policy, stewardship reforms are absorbed into existing moral and relational norms, reinforcing rather than transforming existing dynamics of care. Global stewardship attempts, as they fi …

Dermatological Considerations in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Marginal Zone Lymphomas.

Primary cutaneous marginal zone lymphoma (PC-MZL) is a B-cell lymphoma arising in the skin. Although it is a rare disease, PC-MZL accounts for 20-40% of all primary cutaneous B-cell lymphoma in Western Countries. The aetiology and the pathogenesis of PC-MZL are poorly understood, as it generally lacks the chromosomal translocations most typically present in marginal zone lymphomas of other sites. The diagnosis of PC-MZL may be challenging, due to the rarity of the disease, and needs the competence of different professional figures, including the dermatologist and the pathologist. Furthermore,

Factors Influencing Psychological Help-Seeking Intention for Women with Perinatal Depression and Their Spouses: A Scoping Review.

BACKGROUND: Professional psychological help can significantly improve outcomes for women with perinatal depression (PND), yet many delay or avoid seeking it. Spouses significantly influence women's help-seeking decisions. However, comprehensive reviews synthesizing factors affecting both women's and their spouses' intentions, particularly regarding spousal support, remain lacking. AIM: This scoping review synthesises current evidence on the factors influencing the psychological help-seeking intentions of women with PND and their spouses. METHODS: This scoping review adhered to the framework

Nourishing collaboration: interdisciplinary nutrition education for health care professionals.

Nutrition education remains insufficient in many health care professional training programs despite the central role of diet in the prevention and management of chronic disease. Contemporary nutrition science increasingly recognizes that dietary behaviors and health outcomes are shaped by complex interactions among biological, behavioral, environmental, and food system factors. This perspective proposes an interdisciplinary framework for nutrition education that integrates the complementary expertise of physicians, dietitians, chefs, and farmers. By bridging clinical care, nutrition science, c

Breaking the Circle at the Front Door: Violence, Burnout, and the Exodus From European Emergency Departments.

European emergency departments act as the pressure valve of their health systems, absorbing the demand that primary care, community services, and hospital capacity cannot. In this role they face persistent crowding, workplace violence, staff burnout, and difficulty retaining experienced professionals. We argue that these problems are not independent. They form a self-reinforcing organizational circuit, in which crowding strains triage, strained triage and prolonged waiting fuel violence, violence and understaffing fuel burnout, and burnout drives experienced professionals to leave. Turnover th

Empathy Amplified: Exploring the Transformative Potential of Understanding Auditory Hallucinations Through Staff Training.

BACKGROUND: Stigmatization of individuals diagnosed with psychosis, especially those who experience auditory hallucinations, is a well-documented issue with negative outcomes on provision of care. Existing research has predominantly concentrated on experiential training for students, leaving a significant gap in knowledge regarding the training's impact on practicing psychiatric nurses and technicians. AIMS: This study aims to address this gap by investigating the efficacy of a concise, 1-hour educational activity designed to improve empathy, confidence, competence, and knowledge in psychiatr

UNLABELLED: . Regulated nursing autonomy and professional responsibility: prehospital emergency care as a paradigm of the legal evolution of the nursing profession. INTRODUCTION: The evolution of Italian nursing has expanded the competencies deployed in practice without fully defining the juridical configuration of advanced professional autonomy, especially in regulated organisational settings. OBJECTIVE: To propose regulated nursing autonomy as an interpretive category of professional action, using prehospital emergency care as the paradigm of a model in which nursing knowledge becomes lega

Core sepsis-related competencies for medical students: an international consensus by Delphi technique.

BACKGROUND: Sepsis is a life-threatening condition which may arise from infection in any organ system and requires early recognition and management. Healthcare professionals working in any specialty may need to manage patients with sepsis. Educating medical students about this condition may be an effective way to ensure all future doctors have sufficient ability to diagnose and treat septic patients. However, there is currently no consensus on what competencies medical students should achieve regarding sepsis recognition and treatment. This study aims to outline what sepsis-related competencie

Training and Subjective Confidence in CTG Interpretation in Germany: A National Cross-Sectional Survey.

PURPOSE: Cardiotocography (CTG) is widely used for intrapartum fetal surveillance, but interpretation remains heterogeneous and prone to interobserver variation. This study explored which CTG classification systems are used in German maternity care, how CTG interpretation is taught, and how confident midwives and obstetricians feel when interpreting CTG traces and fetal scalp blood sampling results. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We conducted a national pilot exploratory online cross-sectional survey among midwives, obstetricians, and trainees in Germany. The questionnaire covered workplace characteri

Culture eats evidence for breakfast: how culture influences implementation of evidence-based practices.

BACKGROUND: Research has produced a substantial and expanding body of evidence-based practices (EBPs), encompassing interventions, programmes, clinical guidelines, protocols, care pathways and models of care supported by the best available evidence. Despite this, healthcare delivery is still frequently characterised as insufficiently evidence-based, reflecting a persistent gap between what is known to be effective and what is routinely implemented in practice. Traditional explanations only partially account for this gap, often overlooking culture as a critical yet under-theorized influence. Cu
