B-mode ultrasound for the assessment of hepatic fibrosis: a quantitative multiparametric analysis for a radiomics approach.

Hepatic fibrosis and cirrhosis are a growing global health problem with increasing mortality rates. Early diagnosis and staging of hepatic fibrosis represent a major challenge. Currently liver biopsy is the gold standard for fibrosis assessment; however, biopsy requires an invasive procedure and is prone to sampling error and reader variability. In the current study we investigate using quantitative analysis of computer-extracted features of B-mode ultrasound as a non-invasive tool to characterize hepatic fibrosis. Twenty-two rats were administered diethylnitrosamine (DEN) orally for 12 weeks

Exploring Applications of Radiomics in Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Head and Neck Cancer: A Systematic Review.

BACKGROUND: Radiomics has been widely investigated for non-invasive acquisition of quantitative textural information from anatomic structures. While the vast majority of radiomic analysis is performed on images obtained from computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based radiomics has generated increased attention. In head and neck cancer (HNC), however, attempts to perform consistent investigations are sparse, and it is unclear whether the resulting textural features can be reproduced. To address this unmet need, we systematically reviewed the quality of existing MRI radiomics re…

Multiparametric Radiomics for Characterization and Outcome Prediction in Colorectal Cancer: The Central Role of Diagnostic Imaging.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Colorectal carcinoma (CRC) remains a leading cause of cancer-related morbidity and mortality worldwide, with increasing incidence in younger populations. Despite advances in imaging, conventional approaches remain limited by subjective interpretation and insufficient characterization of tumor heterogeneity. Radiomics, particularly in a multiparametric framework integrating computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and positron emission tomography (PET), has emerged as a promising tool to enhance diagnostic and prognostic performance. This review aims to…

BACKGROUND: Microsatellite instability (MSI) is a key biomarker for immunotherapy in gastric cancer (GC), but preoperative non-invasive prediction remains challenging. Radiomics is promising; however, a systematic evaluation of its diagnostic performance with explicit consideration of overfitting and model comparison is lacking. METHODS: We systematically searched PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library up to March 25, 2026, for studies on radiomics for preoperative MSI prediction in GC. A bivariate random-effects model pooled sensitivity, specificity, and diagnostic odds ratio (…

A Radiomic-based model to predict the depth of myometrial invasion in endometrial cancer on ultrasound images.

In Europe, endometrial carcinoma was found to be the fourth most common tumor in the female population in 2022. The depth of myometrial invasion is a well-established and crucial prognostic risk factor in endometrial cancer patients and is important for choosing the most appropriate management for the patient. However, while the preoperative assessment of tumor invasion carried out using radiological imaging is very important, it is a subjective examination and its accuracy is based on the experience of the operator. In this scenario we proposed a radiomic-based model to predict myometrial inv
