The effects of acupuncture-like stimulation of the various segmental areas on gastric motility were examined in anesthetized rats. The oculomotor abnormalities with isolated infarction of the cerebellar tonsil are unknown. In a patient with acute infarction of the right tonsil, we found (1) nearly completely abolished ipsilateral smooth pursuit and impaired contralateral pursuit, (2) a low-amplitude ipsilesional right-beating nystagmus without fixation, (3) gaze-holding deficits, and (4) normal vestibulo-ocular reflex. We report a patient with partial oculomotor paresis due to midbrain infarction. A 69-year-old man noticed diplopia suddenly. OBJECTIVE: Changes in reflexes associated with chronically sprained ankles were examined by measuring the reflex response latency of hip and ankle muscles during instantaneous ankle/foot inversion.
DESIGN: Randomized trials.
SETTING: All studies were performed in the Research Department laboratories at a major rehabilitation center in a large metropolitan area.

Maximal conduction velocity in the supraorbital nerve (afferent fibers for the blink reflex) has been estimated in 12 normal subjects (on the right and left side): the mean value was 41 m/s. Furthermore, this investigation was made on 23 patients with different pathologies (9 with trigeminal neuralgia with hypoesthesia, 8 with multiple sclerosis, 6 with cerebellopontine angle tumor).
