A variety of drugs have been used to treat B-lymphocyte neoplasms, including both cell cycle-specific (CCS) and non-cell-cycle-specific drugs. Merbarone, a topoisomerase II (topo II) inhibitor which, in contrast to etoposide, does not stabilize topo II-DNA cleavable complexes, was previously shown to be a potent clastogen in vitro and in vivo. During the 5 years of the study period (October 1999-October 2003), 110 strains of Shigella were isolated from fecal samples of patients having acute diarrheal diseases. Shigella sonnei phase 1 was the most prevalent (88/110, 80.0%) serotype. Resistance to nalidixic acid was not encountered from 1999-2002. Mortality rates were compared in three genetic lines of specific pathogen-free chicks inoculated with one of two doses of a nephropathogenic strain of avian infectious bronchitis (IB) virus. The mortality rates were influenced primarily by the chick strain, but also by age and dose of virus. Chicks of the inbred S line were highly susceptible. In this study, we investigated the characteristics of the infection and subsequent immunity induced by Strongyloides venezuelensis in Lewis rats. Animals were infected with 4000 L3 of S. venezuelensis and number of eggs per gram of faeces indicated an acute phase around day 8 and a recovery phase around day 32 after infection. To characterise the pharmacokinetic properties of each enantiomer of ibuprofen in broiler chickens, a stereospecific HPLC method based on a alpha1-acid glycoprotein bonded chiral stationary phase has been validated. S-(+)-naproxen was used as internal standard. Enantiomers of ibuprofen and S-(+)-naproxen were baseline separated using a mobile phase consisting of 0.1 M phosphate buffer pH = 7 and 0.4% 2-propanol.
