Combination of 2-aminoethanethiol hydrochloride and HgI2 in water in the presence of a base yielded a cyclic molecular structure, [Hg4I4(SCH2CH2NH2)4] (1). For the same reaction in the absence of the base, a similar structure with protonated amines was expected; however, polymeric [Hg4I8(SCH2CH2NH3)2]n.nH2O2 was formed instead. In this work, nano-CdS was successfully prepared. The nano-CdS was also modified with L-cysteine. Absorption and fluorescence spectra of CdS nanoparticles for different pH values, reaction times and different Cys/Cd2+/S ratios were investigated. Meanwhile a fluorescence enhancing effect was observed between trace zinc ions and the functionalized L-Cys-CdS nanoparticles. A reversed-phase ion-pair liquid chromatographic analysis combined with a solid-phase extraction clean-up method is used to assess the quantity of diphacinone residue found in invertebrates. The equilibrium constants of Cu(II), Zn(II), Ca(II) and Gd(III) with 1,15-bis(N,N-dimethyl)-5,11-dioxo-8-(N-benzyl)-1,4,8,12,15-pentaazapentadecane (La) have been studied at 25 degrees C and an ionic strength of 0.15 mol dm-3. Equilibrium titrations in N-methylformamide (NMF) of G-25 gel filtered (ox)-state FeMo cofactor [FeMoco(ox)] from Azotobacter vinelandii nitrogenase were carried out using sodium ethanethiolate and followed using UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy. For Fe-Moco(ox), a non-linear least squares (NLLSQ) fit to the data indicated a strong equilibrium thiolate-binding step with Keq = 1.3+/-0.2x10(6) M(-1). The nature of chromium(III) complexes has been found to show a profound influence in its interaction with collagen. The hydrothermal stability of rat tail tendon (RTT) fibres treated with dimeric, trimeric and tetrameric species of chromium(III) has been found to be 102, 87 and 68 degrees C, while that of native RTT is 62 degrees C. A column-switching high-performance liquid chromatographic system was applied for the determination of bupivacaine in plasma. A 500-microliter plasma sample was directly introduced onto a C18-alkyl-diol silica (ADS) precolumn separating analytes from proteins and polar endogenous compounds. The B<==>Z transition of poly[d(G-m5C).d(G-m5C)] in buffered solution (0.002 M sodium cacodylate, pH 7) was studied by CD and ultraviolet spectroscopy as a function of the supporting electrolyte concentration (0.002-1.1 M NaClO4) in the absence of Hg(ClO4)2 [Hg(II)], and as a function of the Hg(II) concentration at a given NaClO4 level.
