Should a single growth standard be used to judge the nutritional status of children under age 5 y globally? Debate consensus.

The participants in this debate agreed that: 1) target-based advocacy is required for ensuring countries' engagement and political commitments toward reducing child malnutrition, and the tools used for monitoring progress should be accurate and pose no risk of harmful consequences; and 2) physical growth is not the only dimension of nutritional status to be monitored in clinical and public health practice; anthropometry is thus only one of the diagnostic indicators of nutritional status. Key disagreements included methodological approaches for developing a single growth standard to evaluate nu

Third human challenge trial conference, Oxford, United Kingdom, February 6-7, 2020, a meeting report.

The third Human Challenge Trial Meeting brought together a broad range of international stakeholders, including academia, regulators, funders and industry, with a considerable delegation from Low- and Middle-Income Countries. Controlled human infection models (CHIMs) can be helpful to study pathogenesis and for the development of vaccines. As challenge agents are used to infect healthy volunteers, ethical considerations include that the challenge studies need to be safe and results should be meaningful. The meeting provided a state-of-the-art overview on a wide range of CHIMs, including viral,

Reducing ethnic inequalities in experiences and outcomes of mental illness: A realist informed national programme evaluation.

Black and minority ethnic communities are more likely to receive coercive mental health care, and involuntary admissions via crisis and criminal justice agencies. Lived experience informed interventions may be better able to address structural determinants, overcome resistance, and motivate innovations. The Synergia Collaborative Centre (SCC) sought to drive systems reform through insights from lived experience data, evidence syntheses, co-design and creative communications. We report a qualitative study of the SCC, applying a realist-informed secondary analysis method to interview data from an

Implementing psilocybin-assisted therapy in palliative care settings: A survey of stakeholders.

BACKGROUND: While the adoption of psilocybin-assisted therapy for existential distress offers promising support for patients with life-threatening illnesses, implementing this intervention into palliative care settings presents significant real-world challenges. From Confidence to Coverage: A Multi-Stakeholder Perspective on Vaccination in Central and Eastern Europe.

Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) carries some of the widest immunisation gaps in Europe, and improving coverage there is often treated as a problem of access infrastructure. On 14 May 2026, a multi-stakeholder meeting hosted at the Romanian Parliament brought together around twenty-five speakers, among some fifty participants in all, from Romania, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Bulgaria, together with international contributors, to agree which barriers to vaccine confidence matter most in the region, which interventions are deliverable within 12 to 24 months, and how responsibility for them s

Implementing the Personalised Exercise Rehabilitation in Cancer Survivorship (PERCS) Triage and Referral System in Ireland: Protocol for a Qualitative Stakeholder Study.

Background Exercise rehabilitation offers substantial benefits for people living with and beyond cancer, improving physical, psychological, and disease-related outcomes. Despite strong evidence and policy support, integration of exercise into routine cancer care in Ireland remains limited. The PERCS (Personalised Exercise Rehabilitation in Cancer Survivorship) triage and referral system was developed to provide a structured, stepped-care model directing patients to the appropriate level of exercise support. Following on from a feasibility study, this protocol describes a qualitative study to i

The relative value of mental health for pandemic response: A discrete choice experiment with stakeholders and the general population in Europe.

BACKGROUND: During a public health emergency, health policies often prioritised physical over mental health, prompting concerns about whether these decisions reflected societal values. This study assessed stated preferences for mental health relative to other wellbeing domains and examined how these priorities align between the general population and health policy stakeholders across eight European countries. METHOD: A discrete choice experiment (DCE), grounded in random utility theory, was administered via an online survey to 1615 members of the general population (nationally representative

An examination of the implementation of a patient navigation program to improve breast and cervical cancer screening rates of Chinese immigrant women: a qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: Chinese Americans have lower breast and cervical cancer screening rates than the national average and experience multiple barriers to cancer care. Patient navigators have improved screening and follow-up rates for medically underserved populations, yet investigations of cancer navigation programs and their implementation among Chinese Americans are limited. To address this gap, we used the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) to examine facilitators and barriers to implementing the Chicago-based Chinatown Patient Navigation Program (CPNP) for breast and cervica

Evaluating reintegration effectiveness differently: A realist evaluation of sports programs in Belgian male prisons using the Capability Approach.

Reintegration of (formerly) incarcerated people is often assessed through narrow behavioral metrics such as non-recidivism or compliance with supervisory conditions. Such measures overlook crucial dimensions of reintegration - dignity, agency, and access to valued opportunities that shape how people rebuild meaningful lives during and after detention. This study addresses that gap by applying the Capability Approach within a Realist Evaluation of prison sports programs in Flanders (Belgium), examining how, why, and under what conditions sport contributes to reintegration. It focuses on prison

Social-media based Health Education plus Exercise Programme (SHEEP) to improve muscle function among community-dwelling young-old adults with possible sarcopenia in China: A study protocol for intervention development.

Possible sarcopenia refers to low muscle strength. Prevalence of possible sarcopenia is estimated to be significantly higher in community-dwelling older adults than that of confirmed or severe sarcopenia. However, there are currently far fewer non-pharmacological intervention strategies for possible sarcopenia than for sarcopenia in the community. Meanwhile, one type of non-pharmacological intervention in sarcopenic area, health education, is under-researched, and older people's awareness about sarcopenia is extremely low, necessitating an immediate dissemination tool for prevention. Does the operations of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in Ghana align with the goals of Primary Health Care? Perspectives of key stakeholders in northern Ghana.

BACKGROUND: In 2005, the World Health Assembly (WHA) of the World Health Organization (WHO) urged member states to aim at achieving affordable universal coverage and access to key promotive, preventive, curative, rehabilitative and palliative health interventions for all their citizens on the basis of equity and solidarity. Since then, some African countries, including Ghana, have taken steps to introduce national health insurance reforms as one of the key strategies towards achieving universal health coverage (UHC). The aim of this study was to get a better understanding of how Ghana's health
