Sheep, goat and bovine skins, as leather, were examined. The surface contours of dermal response to sunburn, facial eczema, rape scald, and demodicosis are illustrated. In sunburn, demodicosis and rape scald, finger-like and ridge pattern projections had developed. A case of idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis in a 33-yr-old female is reported. Many fiber-like crystals were noted within macrophages and the interstitial tissue of the lesion. The prevalence and severity of cockle, a sheep pelt defect characterised by raised lumps, was assessed on lambs that were either louse-infested (Bovicola ovis) or louse-free at birth. Assessments were made on pickled pelts, 10 months after the lambs had entered the trial. Lambs kept free of lice did not develop cockle, whereas the defect was common in lambs (about 90%) that were infested with lice. Skin cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in many Western countries. This systematic review provides a comprehensive overview of the relationship between skin cancer knowledge and sun-protective, exposure and tanning behaviours in the general population. A total of 34 studies, published in peer-reviewed journals over three decades, were reviewed and synthesised.
