BACKGROUND: We report long-term follow-up data on cadaveric kidney transplantation in children < or =20 kg in weight.
METHODS: Between January 1990 and October 2003, we performed 19 cadaveric renal transplants in 19 children < or =20 kg in weight. Mean age at transplantation was 4.7 years (range 18 months to 9 years). Mean weight at transplantation was 14.4 kg (range 9 to 20 kg). Nine patients had preemptive kidney transplantation, whereas 10 were maintained on renal replacement therapy before the transplant operation.

INTRODUCTION: The aim of this article was to compare the results of right hemiliver transplants from living versus cadaver donors in a single institution.
METHODS: Between March 1999 and May 2003, we performed 10 right hemiliver transplants from living donors (LD) and 8 right hemiliver transplants from cadavers (CD). The procedure consisted of grafting liver segments 5, 6, 7, and 8. The procedure was performed with a fully perfused liver also in the CD group (in situ split).

BACKGROUND: Radiation-induced xerostomia is a frequent sequela in patients treated for cancer of the head and neck. BACKGROUND: Periampullary neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) arise from the duodenum, ampulla, and periampullary pancreas. Duodenal and ampullary NETs are rare and may have distinct biologic behavior from pancreatic NETs (P-NETs). We examined the outcomes of these entities.
