OBJECTIVES: Quality of life (QoL) of nursing home (NH) residents is critical, yet understudied, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our objective was to examine whether COVID-19 outbreaks, lack of access to geriatric professionals, and care aide burnout were associated with NH residents' QoL.
DESIGN: Cross-sectional study (July to December 2021).

BACKGROUND: When gambling opportunities are made available to the public in a given jurisdiction, some individuals participate occasionally and others more frequently. Among frequent gamblers, some individuals develop problematic involvement and some do not. This study addresses the association among demographic and social risk factors, frequency of gambling and gambling disorders.

Western Canada is experiencing an unprecedented outbreak of the mountain pine beetle (MPB). The MPB has the potential to impact some of Canada's national parks by affecting park ecosystems and the visitor experience. Contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) is a leading cause of iatrogenic acute kidney failure. Periprocedural CIN results in a greater risk of requiring renal replacement therapy, prolonged hospitalization, excessive health care costs, potential long term kidney impairment and mortality. Nutritionists need to understand the willingness of restaurateurs to prepare and sell healthy foods, as Canadians frequently eat meals at food services. The lunch trade restaurants under the jurisdiction of a rural and semi-rural Alberta health unit were surveyed by telephone. PURPOSE: To compare the motor development of patients with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) and other types of univentricular heart (UVH) with peers who are healthy at the ages of 16 and 52 weeks.
