PURPOSE: Immune responses to retina-specific autoantigens, including S antigen (S-Ag) and interphotoreceptor retinoid binding protein (IRBP), have been suggested to be involved in the pathogenesis of human uveitis, including Behçet's disease (BD). Efficacy of a new immunosuppressive agent, FK506, in refractory uveitis was studied in 8 patients: 5 with Behcet's disease and 3 with idiopathic retinal vasculitis. Facial nerves are frequently injured during cosmetic or other types of facial surgery. However, information on the genes involved in the damage and recovery of the facial nerves is limited.
