The medical treatment of allergic rhino-conjunctivitis involves different classes of drugs administered locally or by general route. They belong to three main classes, antihistamines, steroids and mast cell stabilizers. Since it is a relatively benign and also highly common disease, treatment options are limited by possible, even mild, side effects and by cost efficacy restriction. This study is a preliminary report on the use of freeze-dried-collagen eye patches in the treatment of a selected group of inflammatory eye conditions. The early responses to treatment have been encouraging in cases of allergic conjunctivitis, blepharitis, and pterygium.
