INTRODUCTION: This report describes the outcomes of sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) due to cochlear inner ear barotrauma (IEBt) in five divers treated with hyperbaric oxygen (HBOT).
METHODS: The case histories of five consecutive divers presenting with SNHL from IEBt due to diving, were reviewed. All divers provided written consent for their data to be included in the study. All had reference pre-injury audiograms. All noted ear problems during or post-dive. Independent audiologists confirmed SNHL in all divers prior to HBOT, then assessed outcomes after HBOT.

The authors report 9 cases of para and tetraplegia due to decompression sickness following deep sea diving. Poor technique was the cause of 8 of these cases, but one remained totally unexplained. Hydroporus queneyi sp. n. is described from the area of Montpellier in southern France. It is a member of the Hydroporus normandi-complex (within the H. memnonius-group) and shares with other species of the complex the typical suite of morphological features associated with a semi-subterranean ecology. Animal-borne instruments are essential research tools for ecologists and physiologists. An increasing number of studies have shown impacts of carrying a tag on behaviour and energetics, which can have implications for animal welfare and data validity. We examined the morphology of setae and microtrichia in Aquarius paludum during larval development using a scanning electron microscope. We then conducted immersion experiments with larvae and adults in oxygenated and deoxygenated water.
