[Electrical picture of the brain under increased respiration in children. Studies on the structure of hyperventilation and its value as a provocation method in clinical electroencephalography in a model of multivariate analysis using electronic data processing].

In clinical electroencephalography, hyperventilation is the most used method of activation. However, knowledge of the conditions of hyperventilation with regard to their effects on the EEG is so far rather undifferentiated. For this reason the effects of hyperventilation in 1109 children are examined in this paper based on clinical and electroencephalographic parameters of a data configuration with a large number of criteria and the results obtained are calculated with the aid of electronic data processing. The statistical methods of examination were frequency and significance investigations b…

Rationale, design, and methods of electroencephalography-based investigation of the effects of oral desmopressin on improving slow-wave sleep time in nocturnal polyuria patients (the DISTINCT study): protocol for a single-arm, open-label, single-assignment trial.

BACKGROUND: Nocturia is one of the most bothersome lower urinary tract symptoms and often impairs sleep quality in the elderly. Although previous studies on nocturia have indicated that the successful treatment of nocturia improves sleep quality, most used questionnaires and activity devices to analyze sleep/wake patterns. Therefore, there is little information about the treatment effects of desmopressin on objective sleep quality. The aim of the DISTINCT study is to investigate the change in subjective and objective sleep quality using electroencephalography (EEG) and the Pittsburgh Sleep Qua…

Electroencephalographic Normalization as a Biomarker of Clinical Recovery in Down Syndrome Regression Disorder.

OBJECTIVE: Down syndrome regression disorder is a syndrome characterized by subacute loss of cognitive, behavioral, and functional abilities in individuals with Down syndrome. Electroencephalography abnormalities are frequently observed during evaluation, but it remains unclear whether these findings represent a dynamic marker of disease activity. We evaluated longitudinal changes in electroencephalography and examined whether normalization is associated with clinical improvement. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective longitudinal cohort study of individuals with Down syndrome regression diso…
