This study investigated the impact of post-treatment apical periodontitis on microbial DNA in patients' blood circulation. Samples from the root apex, periapical lesion and peripheral blood of 11 patients, along with peripheral blood from nine healthy controls, were analysed using next-generation sequencing. The microbial DNA composition, diversity and linear discriminant analysis effect size were analysed. The SourceTracker was applied to trace microorganisms of peripheral blood. Proteobacteria dominated peripheral blood and periapical lesions, while Actinobacteria prevailed in the root apex.

INTRODUCTION: Endodontic infections are biofilm-mediated, demanding effective biofilm eradication from the root canal. Root canal complexities, coupled with bacterial biofilm resistance, pose challenges to thorough disinfection. Irrigation, particularly with sodium hypochlorite, is crucial in endodontics. Activation techniques, like sonic or ultrasonic oscillations, enhance irrigant penetration and biofilm disruption, improving decontamination and treatment outcomes. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effectiveness of XP Finisher, EndoUltra, Eddy and Irriflex in the reduction of t…

BACKGROUND: Apical periodontitis (AP) is one of the most prevalent dental diseases. Its presence can increase systemic inflammatory burden and is associated with cardiometabolic disorders including higher cardiovascular risks and impaired glycaemic control. There is currently a paucity of knowledge showing whether successful endodontic treatment is associated with systemic metabolic improvements. This study aims to identify the potential impact of successful endodontic treatment on patients' serum metabolomic profiles, and to evaluate how these impacts are associated with the metabolic syndrom

Hemophilic pseudotumor (HP) is a rare but severe complication of hemophilia, characterized by progressive bleeding in the muscles, joints, and bone tissue, which can lead to lytic lesions. Its prevalence is approximately 1-2% among patients with hemophilia. This report presents a male patient with mild hemophilia A who developed an intraosseous lesion in the posterior region of the right maxilla, with a prior history of endodontic treatment in the area. Surgical excision was performed and, following clinicopathological correlation, the lesion was diagnosed as HP. Background/Objectives: This re

OBJECTIVE: Sodium hypochlorite solution (NaOCl) is an effective canal irrigant but interferes with the mechanical features of dentin and the bonding capability of adhesives when restoring endodontically treated teeth. This study evaluated whether access cavity resin sealing before using canal irrigant would augment the resistance of endodontically treated anterior teeth against fracture.
METHODS: Sixty maxillary incisors underwent endodontic treatment in five groups (n = 12). Irrigation with 5.25% NaOCl and 17% ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) was performed in all groups except for Grou

Nickel-titanium (NiTi) rotary files used in root canal treatments experience fatigue and shear damage due to the complex curved geometries and operating conditions encountered within the root canal. This can lead to premature file fracture, causing severe complications. A comprehensive understanding of how different factors contribute to file damage is crucial for improving their functional life. This study investigates the combined effects of root canal curvature radius, file canal curvature, and rotational speed on the fatigue life and failure modes of NiTi endodontic files through an integr
