A life-threatening arrhythmia detection method based on pulse rate variability analysis and decision tree.

Extreme bradycardia (EB), extreme tachycardia (ET), ventricular tachycardia (VT), and ventricular flutter (VF) are the four types of life-threatening arrhythmias, which are symptoms of cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, in this study, a method of life-threatening arrhythmia recognition is proposed based on pulse rate variability (PRV). First, noise and interference are wiped out from the arterial blood pressure (ABP), and the PRV signal is extracted. Then, 19 features are extracted from the PRV signal, and 15 features with highly important and significant variation were selected by random for

Acoustic Features for Identifying Suicide Risk in Crisis Hotline Callers: Machine Learning Approach.

BACKGROUND: Crisis hotlines serve as a crucial avenue for the early identification of suicide risk, which is of paramount importance for suicide prevention and intervention. However, assessing the risk of callers in the crisis hotline context is constrained by factors such as lack of nonverbal communication cues, anonymity, time limits, and single-occasion intervention. Therefore, it is necessary to develop approaches, including acoustic features, for identifying the suicide risk among hotline callers early and quickly. Given the complicated features of sound, adopting artificial intelligence

Disease activity and treatment response in early rheumatoid arthritis: an exploratory metabolomic profiling in the NORD-STAR cohort.

BACKGROUND: The variability in treatment response in people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) warrants the prediction of patients at high risk of treatment failure. Identification of biomarkers linked to clinical remission in RA is currently a challenge. Metabolomics may help to identify such biomarkers as it allows for a comprehensive exploration of disease-related variations that extends beyond the genome and proteome. This hypothesis-free exploratory metabolomics study aimed to profile serum metabolic alterations in early RA to understand the metabolic changes associated with disease activity

Large-Scale Samples Based Rapid Detection of Ciprofloxacin Resistance in Klebsiella pneumoniae Using Machine Learning Methods.

Klebsiella pneumoniae is one of the most common causes of hospital- and community-acquired pneumoniae. Resistance to the extensively used quinolone antibiotic, such as ciprofloxacin, has increased in Klebsiella pneumoniae, which leads to the increase in the risk of initial antibiotic selection for Klebsiella pneumoniae treatment. Rapid and precise identification of ciprofloxacin-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CIRKP) is essential for clinical therapy. Nowadays, matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) is another approach to discover antibioti

Phybrata Sensors and Machine Learning for Enhanced Neurophysiological Diagnosis and Treatment.

Concussion injuries remain a significant public health challenge. A significant unmet clinical need remains for tools that allow related physiological impairments and longer-term health risks to be identified earlier, better quantified, and more easily monitored over time. We address this challenge by combining a head-mounted wearable inertial motion unit (IMU)-based physiological vibration acceleration ("phybrata") sensor and several candidate machine learning (ML) models. The performance of this solution is assessed for both binary classification of concussion patients and multiclass predict
