BACKGROUND: Post-traumatic cyclodialysis clefts commonly lead to profound visual loss secondary to hypotonous maculopathy. Current literature regarding cyclodialysis clefts definitively outlines the management of visual loss resulting from hypotonous maculopathy. Because hypotonous maculopathy with normal visual acuity is rarely reported, management is less well defined. Management guidelines for individuals with and without visual loss secondary to hypotonous maculopathy are reviewed.

A case of high, broad, peripheral anterior synechiae caused by multiple, bilateral iridociliary cysts is reported. The peripheral anterior synechia in our case extended to the corneal endothelium beyond Schwalbe's line, and iris atrophy in the region of the cysts was found. Ultrasound biomicroscopic imaging showed that multiple, bilateral iridociliary cysts causes elevation of the iris structure.

We describe the use of a new instrument designed to create a simultaneous goniopuncture with diathermy using an ab-interno technique. The goniodiathermy ab-interno procedure was first performed on three eyes of three cynomolgus monkeys. Four black patients, all with sickle trait (SA), developed transient open-angle glaucoma with blood in Schlemm's canal. In 3 patients the condition followed blunt trauma, while in the fourth no antecedent trauma was described. The intraocular pressure became normal in all 4 cases with the resolution of the haemorrhage from the trabecular meshwork and Schlemm's canal.

PURPOSE: The current study aimed to describe the distribution of angle alpha and angle kappa offsets as well as their associated ocular biometric parameters in a large population of candidates for cataract surgery.
METHODS: This cross-sectional retrospective study included 8,119 eyes of 4,781 candidates for cataract surgery (mean age 70.7 ± 12.9 years). There were 49.9% right eyes, and 53.0% patients were females. The angles offset and ocular biometric parameters were measured by the IOLMaster 700 (Carl Zeiss Meditec, AG, Germany).
