Capillary Haemangioma is a benign vascular tumour characterized by proliferation of blood vessels with a very striking similarity to pyogenic granuloma with a predilection to occur on the gingiva. Though the head and neck are the most common region of occurrence, but is considered to be rare occurring on the gingiva, intra-orally. The lesion clinically mimicked pyogenic granuloma but was histopathologically diagnosed as capillary haemangioma. It was surgically excised and followed up for 6 months without any recurrence.

Eccrine poroma is a benign adnexal neoplasm often mistaken for pyogenic granuloma, skin tag, squamous cell carcinoma, and other soft-tissue tumors. We describe a 69-year-old woman with a soft-tissue mass on the lateral aspect of her right hallux that was initially clinically diagnosed as a pyogenic granuloma. Histologic examination proved that this mass was instead an eccrine poroma, the rare benign sweat gland tumor. This case exemplifies the importance of a broad differential diagnosis, especially regarding soft-tissue masses of the lower extremity.

Head and neck vascular tumors are common in children. Capillary hemangiomas are often easily confused with pyogenic granulomas due to histopathological resemblance. Furthermore, predisposing factors to pyogenic granulomas include an existing hemangioma, which may be co-existing entities. Surgical excision of large unsightly tumors causing functional deficits is a feasible management option. We report a case of a rapidly growing oral lesion in a toddler with feeding difficulties and anemia. It triggered a diagnostic dilemma as it was clinically consistent with a pyogenic granuloma but histologi

The aim of this study was to report 2 novel clinical cases of reactive lesions of the peri-implant mucosa associated with titanium dental implants where metal-like particles were observed histologically. In both cases, the lesions were diagnosed as epulis, based on clinical evidence. Extirpation biopsies were carried out. Case 1 was diagnosed as pyogenic granuloma and case 2 as peripheral giant cell granuloma. The presence of metal-like particles in the tissues suggests that the etiology of the lesions might be related to the corrosion process of the metal structure. This is the first case of

Pyogenic granuloma is a tissue overgrowth which commonly develops as a response to irritation or trauma which is usually localized. Though gingiva is said to be the common site, it also can occur on lip, tongue and buccal mucosa. Pathogenesis is unclear but trauma, infection and hormonal imbalance are attributed as reasons for occurrence. Histologically this reactive lesion is filled with immature fibroblastic connective tissue, profilerative blood vessels and inflammatory cells. This article presents a case of a large pyogenic granuloma of the tongue which is a rare site for this tumor in a 2

PURPOSE: The authors describe the rare condition of an abscess within a hydroxyapatite orbital implant in two patients who had undergone seemingly uncomplicated enucleation and orbital implant surgery.
METHODS: In the first patient, 14 weeks postoperatively, a chronic discharge developed and the socket became uncomfortable. A pyogenic granuloma was present, occurring over an area of dehiscence. The hydroxyapatite orbital implant was removed 10 months postoperatively. In the second patient, moderate orbital discomfort was noted during the first week postoperatively along with a temporal shift

Peripheral giant cell granuloma is considered rare in the dog with little known about the clinicopathologic features. There are few reports in the veterinary literature concerning this benign, reactive lesion, formerly known as giant cell epulis. In humans, the four most commonly described reactive epulides are focal fibrous hyperplasia (fibrous epulis), pyogenic granuloma, peripheral ossifying fibroma, and peripheral giant cell granuloma. This case report describes the diagnosis and surgical management of a peripheral giant cell granuloma in a dog.

Paronychia and periungual pyogenic granuloma represent one of the most common and bothersome dermatologic toxicities observed with ErbB inhibitors. There is no standardized treatment, and management remains challenging. Moreover, conservative management with noninvasive treatment should be promoted for fragile patients in a metastatic setting. Over the last few years, the efficacy of topical blocking agents has been considered for managing cutaneous or mucosal pyogenic granulomas. Very recently, the use of topical propranolol or of timolol has been reported in several patients undergoing treat

OBJECTIVE: We analyzed the expression and immunolocalization of vascular adhesion protein (VAP)-1 in conjunctival tumors and normal conjunctival tissue of humans.
METHODS: Nine conjunctival tumors, including pyogenic granuloma and extranodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma (EMZL), and 2 normal conjunctivas were analyzed by immunohistochemistry for VAP-1 and CD31 expression.
RESULTS: Immunoreactivity for VAP-1 was detected in the lumen of microvessels in pyogenic granuloma and in EMZLs. In contrast, normal bulbar conjunctival tissues demonstrated weak cytoplasmic immunoreactivity for VAP-1 in t

Intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia (IPEH) is an unusual benign, non-neoplastic vascular lesion that usually occurs in skin, but is uncommon in the oral cavity. Herein, we review the pertinent literature of oraiiPEH and report a new mixed form. A 61-year- old man presented with an ulcerated nodule in the lingual portion of the gingiva related to the left mandibular canine. An excisional biopsy was performed presuming the clinical diagnosis of pyogenic granuloma. Histopathological analysis showed areas of granulation tissue consistent with pyogenic granuloma. But in addition, ther

Blood vascular and lymphatic tumors were evaluated immunohistochemically by studying a spectrum of endothelial associated antigens. UEA-1 lectin reacted with the tumor cells of one patient with malignant angioendothelioma in the non-metastatic stage. However, when metastasis occurred, the binding sites of this lectin completely disappeared from the surface of the tumor cells in both original and metastatic lesions, suggesting the loss of blood group H antigen from the tumor cells could be used as an indicator of metastasis in this tumor. Reaction with anti-HLA-A, B, C, intense in normal blood

A 54-year-old man sought medical attention for a growth on his right cheek that had been present for three months. The growth began as a small, brown “pimple” that gradually increased in size over time. Physical examination revealed a 9 mm well-circumscribed erythematous nodule with a hemorrhagic crust. On dermoscopy, the lesion was completely vascular appearing, with no pigment visualized. A clinical diagnosis of pyogenic granuloma was made. The lesion was biopsied and histopathologic examination revealed a 2.8 mm thick, Clark level IV, ulcerated, amelanotic nodular melanoma. Because the lite
