A case report of a young patient (born in 1980) with a 2-year history of chronic ulcerative proctocolitis was described. Checking colonoscopy 6 months from the beginning of disease showed multiple and even confluent polypoid lesions in transverse gut starting from hepatic flexure in addition to diffuse inflammatory rectosigmoideal changes. Cronkhite-Canada syndrome is generally accepted as being a benign disorder. We herein present a 66-year-old-male patient with Cronkhite-Canada syndrome who had a carcinoma of the sigmoid colon along with multiple colonic polyps, which included juvenile-type polyps, adenomas, and hyperplastic polyps. In the world literature, there have been 34 cases of Cronkhite-Canada syndrome associated with colorectal carcinoma among the 280 reported cases of this syndrome. This contribution covers the X-ray documentation of primary coloscopy findings in 29 patients. High coloscopy as a primary method of diagnosis used to have the disadvantage that when dealing with a circumscribed lesion requiring surgery, a barium enema had to be administered on order to localize it and determine its extent. The endoscopic-radiological coloscopy method described here combines primary coloscopy with a spatial visualization of the colon on an X-ray picture. It should bei applied wherever coloscopy is used as the primary method of examining the colon.

A patient with well-controlled and currently asymptomatic ulcerative colitis had II unusually large polypoid lesions in his colon demonstrated by barium enema X-ray examination and colonoscopy. RATIONALE: Collagenous gastritis is an uncommon condition initially identified in 1989 by Colletti and Trainer, characterized by a subepithelial collagen band exceeding 10 μm in thickness. Two patient subgroups have been identified: children and young adults exhibiting severe anemia with illness confined to the gastric mucosa and no colonic involvement, and older individuals presenting with watery diarrhea and collagenous gastritis linked to collagenous colitis. A combination of hyperplastic polyps and Marsh I duodenal lymphocytosis has not been fully reported yet.

RATIONALE: Cronkhite-Canada syndrome, also known as gastrointestinal polyp pigmentation nail dystrophy/atrophy syndrome, is a rare, nongenetic disorder of unknown etiology characterized by gastrointestinal polyps and ectodermal abnormalities. Clinical manifestations commonly include abdominal pain, diarrhea, alopecia, skin hyperpigmentation, nail dystrophy, and dysgeusia. We present a case of Cronkhite-Canada syndrome (CCS) in which the entire intestine was observed using a prototype of magnifying single-balloon enteroscope (SIF Y-0007, Olympus).
