Guillain-Barre syndrome is a rare neuorological disorder affecting 6-24/ 1,00,000 population during pregnancy. The case involved a 29-year-old woman conceived after 14 years of marriage presenting with 16 weeks pregnancy and clinical symptoms of Guillain-Barre syndrome. It was confirmed by nerve conduction test and patient was started on intravenous immunoglobulin. She had a rapid recovery following therapy and subsequent follow-up 3 months later showed complete recovery and healthy ongoing pregnancy. Various diagnostic and treatment options are discussed.

We report a case of xeroderma pigmentosum in a 9-year-old back Cameroonian boy. The diagnosis was based on typical clinical presentation of the disease: cutaneous atrophy, hypepigmented macules, and areas of depigmentation on sun exposed regions of the skin. Multiple tumoral lesions were localized on the head. Ocular findings were also present: conjunctival hyperemia, peripheral corneal opacification. Excision of the tumors and potoprotection was proposed for this patient. The role of tribal black African marriage traditions in disease transmission is discussed.

Primary congenital pulmonary hypoplasia, defined as congenital pulmonary hypoplasia occurring in the absence of other congenital anomalies, is an exceedingly rare condition of unknown aetiology. We report on two cases that presented as severe progressive respiratory failure immediately after birth in siblings of a consanguinous marriage, and we postulate that a genetic aetiology may be responsible for the arrest of lung maturation in utero. The possibility of a genetic component to the aetiology has not been previously documented in the literature.

Among twenty patients with narcolepsy intelligence was normal and no characteristic personality or psychopathology was found. A family history of psychiatric disorder was present in five and a past personal history in ten. Eight had a current psychiatric disorder and twelve either a current or past psychiatric disorder. Chronic sexual disorder was present in eleven. Arousal appeared to be the mechanism by which emotions precipitated symptoms. Ten patients were found to have had difficulties at work, in marriage or in social life.

A male infant, born to parents in a non-consanguineous marriage presented with a 1-month history of itchy, fluid-filled lesions in a string-of-pearl appearance all over the body following administration of the first dose of pentavalent vaccination. The results of the immunological tests confirmed the diagnosis of bullous pemphigoid. He was treated with topical and oral corticosteroids along with oral dapsone, followed by good improvement. The child received subsequent doses of the vaccine without any further relapses.

I examined sociodemographic, sexual, and HIV and other sexually transmitted disease risk differences among homosexual- and nonhomosexual-identified men who have sex with men (MSM) in the United States. Non-Mexican Latino ethnicity, marriage or cohabitation, religiosity, and incarceration history were positively associated with being nonhomosexual identified. We describe a single case of a 2-year, 8-month-old male child with alacrima, achalasia, and neurologic anomalies and proven clinical and laboratory evidence of normal adrenocortical function. As the child was the product of a first cousin marriage, the possibility of autosomal recessive mode of inheritance was considered. Differentiation between this syndrome and other previously described associated syndromes is illustrated. This article emphasizes the presence of multisystem anomalies as described in the presence of normal suprarenal function.
