Light-chain (AL) amyloidosis may present with features suggesting vasculitis, including giant-cell arteritis (GCA). We describe a case of an 80-year-old man, who initially presented with bilateral jaw claudication, bi-temporal headache and arthralgia, however a temporal-artery biopsy then revealed AL amyloidosis. A diagnosis of AL amyloidosis complicating multiple myelome simulates GCA and polymyalgia rheumatica was established. A four-yr-old boy developed a solitary metastasis nine months after living-related liver transplantation for unresectable hepatoblastoma. We have developed a stable line of the human breast carcinoma cell line MCF-7 by in vitro continuous exposure to increasing concentrations of the antitumoral alkylating agent FCE 24517 (tallimustine). We report eight patients with a solitary plasmacytoma of the spine associated with neurological complications. The patients included five men and three women with an average age at presentation of 59 years (range, 47 to 73 years). Peripheral blood monocytes from a patient with pyoderma gangrenosum and paraproteinaemia showed defective phagocytosis; longitudinal observations demonstrated an association between the defect, the level of paraprotein and the clinical activity of the pyoderma.
