OBJECTIVES: To provide a critical assessment of epidemiological and clinical methods and tools for evaluating the effects of occupational pathogenic noxae on the cardiovascular system.

Occupational and environmental exposure to cadmium leads to a progressive and almost irreversible accumulation of the metal in the body. BACKGROUND: Occupational exposure to metal working fluids (MWF) is common with over 1.2 million workers in the United States involved in machine finishing, machine tooling, and other metalworking operations.
