Nevi are a main risk factor for malignant melanoma, and most nevi develop in childhood. This study examined the relationship between vacations and nevi in 681 White children born in 1998 who were lifetime residents of Colorado. Vacation histories were assessed through telephone interviews of parents, whereas nevus and phenotypic characteristics were assessed through skin exams at age 7. Molluscum contagiosum (MC) is common skin infection caused by molluscum virus. Growth of MC inside melanocytic lesion is extremely rare. We present the case of MC in common melanocytic nevus and the first case of MC in superficial spreading malignant melanoma. Complete destruction of melanocytes and melanoma cells occurred on the site of MC infection. MC virus might be considered as a future candidate for viral oncolysis in cutaneous melanoma patients with advanced disease.

Nevus sebaceus of Jadassohn is a hamartoma of multiple skin structures. Many neoplasms have been reported to arise in association with nevus sebaceus, most commonly trichoblastoma/basal cell carcinoma and syringocystadenoma papilliferum. We present a 15-year-old boy born with a pigmented lesion on the lower and upper eyelid diagnosed as a congenital divided nevus of the eyelid. Nevus psiloliparus is a distinct type of mesodermal nevus of the scalp characterized by absence or paucity of hair, and presence of an excessive amount of fatty tissue. An ultrastructural analysis of oral balloon cell nevus of intramucosal type complemented with an immunohistochemical study was performed for the first time. The lesion was composed of large balloon cells with an admixture of small nevus cells and melanophages at the periphery. A case of common blue nevus of the uterine cervix in a 32-year-old woman is reported. This lesion was incidentally discovered in a hysterectomy performed for leiomyomas; in addition, a right ovarian benign serous cyst was found. The objective of this study is to investigate the feasibility and safety of single-port microthoracoscopic thoracic sympathicotomy for the treatment of palmar hyperhidrosis. Between January 2008 and March 2013, 56 patients (36 male, 20 female; mean age 25.6 years, age range 16-39 years) underwent single-port microthoracoscopic thoracic sympathicotomy for palmar hyperhidrosis. The epithelioid blue nevus has recently been associated with the Carney complex, which is characterized by myxomas, spotty skin pigmentation, endocrine overactivity, and schwannomas. Using the general criteria proposed by Carney and Ferreiro, similar lesions were identified in 33 patients with no evidence of the Carney complex. CASE: A woman of 28 years of age suffered chronic gastrointestinal bleeding starting at seven years of age. During these 21 years she received various treatment with oral and parenteral iron and, in addition, four blood transfusions. We found her to be anemic with 7.8 g/dL of hemoglobin (HB), iron deficient and with skin lesions in tongue, right hand and lower extremities. We report a 34-year-old woman with linear sebaceous nevus syndrome and dolichomegalic artery. The patient was admitted to our hospital for evaluation of a headache and fever. An unusual case with Sturge-Weber syndrome is reported. A computed tomography study revealed the presence of gyriform calcifications in the occipital lobe, and discovered a hidden occipital subcutaneous port-wine nevus, instead of the usually expected nevus in the distribution of the first division of the trigeminal nerve. Existence of an occipital port-wine nevus, which was in the distribution of the greater occipital nerve, suggested a variation with respect to the embryogenesis of the Sturge-Weber syndrome.

A healthy 52-year-old woman had an intradermal nevus removed from the right preauricular region. Histopathologic examination disclosed intranuclear and intracytoplasmic inclusions in many of the nevus cells. Theoretically, Becker's melanosis or hairy epidermal nevus and smooth muscle hamartoma are two quite separate entities. In fact, there are cases which could be considered as intermediate. As a matter of fact, a slight underlying smooth muscle hyperplasia can be seen in Becker's nevus; on the other hand, hypermelanosis of the basal layer and hypertrichosis may be encountered in smooth muscle hamartoma. The 4 here reported cases are examples of diagnostic difficulties for which the sometimes not clear-cut limits of these 2 types of lesion can be responsible.
