Hairy cell leukemia (HCL) presenting as extramedullary disease without bone marrow infiltration is extremely rare. We report a 42-year-old male diagnosed as extramedullary HCL in right parotid gland without cytopenia, bone marrow infiltration, and splenic involvement. Immunohistochemistry of core biopsy of was positive for LCA, CD 10, CD20, CD25, BCL2, BCL6, and cyclin D1, negative for CD3, and CD5 with Ki 67 of 10-15%. Molecular analysis showed BRAF V600E mutation. He was treated with Cladribine and 8 doses of weekly Rituximab without any local radiation. Post therapy, he had very good clinic

OBJECTIVES: Parotid lymphoma is a rare disease and proves challenging to differentiate from other masses. In this study, we aimed to analyze the clinical characteristics of parotid lymphoma to identify diagnostic factors to facilitate a diagnosis of parotid lymphoma.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: We retrospectively enrolled 7 patients with parotid lymphoma, which was diagnosed at our hospital from 2012 to 2023.
RESULTS: All participants had a well-defined, homogeneous solid mass; moreover, 5 patients had bilateral multiple lymphadenopathy that was detected on neck computed tomography (CT). Three pa

Precise identification and preservation of the facial nerve is mandatory to avoid dysfunction of the facial nerve during parotidectomy. In this article, the authors are introducing a new landmark to identify the facial nerve for parotidectomy that is more protective for the facial nerve. The authors use a simple approach to predict the position of facial nerve main trunk intraoperatively without geometric calculations and a lot of landmarks. An imaginary almost 2 cm line is drawn between mastoid tip inferiorly and bony-cartilaginous junction of the external auditory canal superiorly. The main

Objective:To analysis the data of the patients with parotid tumors, clarify the contributing factors of Frey syndrome, and to evaluate the role of soft tissues membrane SIS in prevention of Frey syndrome after parotidectomy. Method:The data of 95 patients who suffered from parotid tumors and underwent parotidectomy were included in this study. The relationship between the patients' age, sex, tumor location ,tumor size, disease pathology, type of resection, SIS application and the incidence of Frey syndrome were statistically analyzed . Result:The incidence of Frey syndrome after parotidectomy

Reflectance and laser induced fluorescence spectroscopies were employed for the first time in a limited pilot study to probe freshly excised human parotid tissues (adenomatous and adjacent). In human parotid tissue, measurements were associated with endogenous fluorophores NADH and collagen, as well as tissue optical properties, with larger relative collagen content detected from normal to adenomatous tissues. The observed significant differences between the fluorescence and reflectance properties of normal, and adenomatous tissues present an opportunity for future statistical validation on a

In 1973 Abrams et al. described a nonneoplastic lesion named "necrotizing sialometaplasia". Since this date additional cases have been reported. The lesion might be misdiagnosed either mucoid tumor or squamous carcinoma. The cases reported in the following years were localised on the hard palate, lower lip, nose and in the major salivary glands. By the "Speicheldrüsenregister" of the Institute of Pathology of the University of Hamburg five cases of infarcted parotid glands were registered during the years of 1965--1977. All infarcts are observed in patients with tumors in the parotid region. N
