Guttate psoriasis is a subgroup of psoriasis that most commonly presents as raindroplike, erythematous, silvery, scaly papules. Guttate psoriatic flares may follow rhinovirus or COVID-19 infection due to dysregulation of the innate immune response. We describe the case of a patient who experienced a moderate psoriatic flare 3 weeks after diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection. We discuss the dysregulation of proinflammatory cytokines that we believe triggered this flare and the treatment regimen for our patient.

The role of the nervous system in the pathogenesis of psoriasis is not well elucidated. However, its involvement is clinically apparent with sparing of areas affected by neurologic disease, such as poliomyelitis, and remission of psoriasis in cases of nerve damage. Several neuropeptides, including substance P (SP), nerve growth factor, calcitonin gene-related peptide, and vasoactive intestinal peptide have been hypothesized to play a part in the development of psoriasis and its symptoms. We report a case of a patient with psoriasis who experienced complete remission following ischemic stroke.

Obese children are at higher risk of developing psoriasis, and obesity severity is correlated with psoriasis severity. The relationship between obesity and pediatric psoriasis was explored in a well-defined population. Obesity and psoriasis coexist at diagnosis, but it is likely that obesity commonly precedes psoriasis in children.

Psoriasis (PsO) is a chronic relapsing/remitting autoimmune skin disease, associated with an increased risk of other autoimmune disorders. The association between psoriasis vulgaris and bullous pemphigoid is due to the still unclear autoimmune process. The common disease site is the dermo-epidermal junction or basal membrane zone (BMZ), with specific alterations for both diseases. Photochemotherapy (PUVA) is one of the therapeutic modalities for psoriasis and can trigger production of autoantibodies against antigens in the BMZ in patients with subclinical bullous pemphigoid.
