The number of eggs from gastrointestinal nematodes per gram of faeces (worm egg count WEC) is commonly used to determine the need for anti-parasite treatments and the breeding value of animals when selecting for worm resistance. Twelve sheep from 7 different flocks consisting of approximately 150-250 animals each were diagnosed with coenurosis caused by the larval stage of Taenia multiceps. Ataxia, incoordination, drowsiness, hind leg paralysis and coma were the most prominent clinical symptoms. Monocytosis and lymphocytosis were observed upon hematological examination. During a survey for myiasis in Riyadh Region, 3712 sheep were examined. 73 animals (2%) were infested with different dipterous larvae. Out of the 115 larvae recovered, 100 larvae (87%) were Chrysomya bezziana, 10 (8.7%) were C. albiceps, and 5 (4.3%) were Wohlfahrtia nuba. A study was conducted to determine the cause and prevalence of skin diseases in local sheep from northern Ethiopia. Of 520 sheep examined 174 (33%) had skin diseases of different causes. It is known that Helicobacter pylori is a cause of chronic gastritis and peptic ulcer disease in humans. However the origin and transmission of this bacterium has not been clearly explained. One of the suggested theories is transmission via raw milk from animals to human beings. In this study, the presence of H. pylori was investigated in sheep milk that is commonly consumed as human food. For this purpose, a total of 440 raw sheep milk samples collected from the Burdur region of Turkey were examined by specific cultural procedures, however, H. pylori was not isolated in any sample.

Data recording the course of scrapie outbreaks in 4 sheep flocks (2 in Cheviot sheep and 2 in Suffolks) are compared. For each outbreak the data on scrapie incidence and sheep demography and pedigrees cover periods of years or decades. Hydatid cyst, the larval cestod of Echinococcus granulosus infects both man and animal. In the last five years, fourteen cases have been surgically treated in the Universities Hospitals of Cairo (9) and Ain Shams (5). The highly infected site was the liver and the least was the spleen. On the other hand, a total of 2,871,510 sheep slaughtered in the governmental abattoirs over five years (1995-1999) showed an overall hydatidosis of 0.33%.
