racture-dislocation of the proximal humerus (usually occurring after violent trauma) may be more frequently associated with a poor long-term results because the destruction of the hinged periosteum is associated with an high-risk of avascular necrosis of the head of the humerus (1, 2). Concomitant coracoid fracture with anterior shoulder dislocation in such case is something extremely rarely reported (8). Herein, we describe a challenging case of a 44 years old man with 4-parts fracture of the right proximal humerus, dislocation of the glenohumeral joint associated with coracoid avulsion. Cons

IMPORTANCE: Patients who have a fragility fracture are at high risk for subsequent fractures. Prescription drugs represent 1 factor that cou … nificantly depending on fracture type (100% of hip fractures, 8.2% of wrist fractures, and 15.0% of shoulder fractures). The frequency of discharge to an institution for rehabilitation following hospitalization also varied by fracture type, but the mean (SD) duration of acute rehabilitation did not: 28.1 (19.8) days. Most patients were exposed to at least 1 nonopiat …

RATIONALE: Coracoid processes (CPs) fracture with acromioclavicular (AC) joint dislocation are extremely rare. This combined injury has brought many challenges to surgeons, and the mechanism underlying the injury is still not fully understood. There is no clear consensus on its treatment.
PATIENT CONCERNS: Here, we describe a CP fracture with AC joint dislocation in a middle-aged manual worker.
DIAGNOSIS: Radiographs showed a fracture of the base of the CP and a third-degree AC joint separation.
INTERVENTIONS: The patient was treated surgically with open reduction and internal fixation of t

BACKGROUND: Shoulder dislocation is one of the most frequent dislocations encountered by emergency physicians. Typical emergency care usually includes performing both prereduction and postreduction radiography. However, selective radiography has the potential benefits of reducing emergency department (ED) time and radiation exposure.
OBJECTIVES: To refine and combine two existing clinical decision rules for selective radiography in the ED management of anterior shoulder dislocation, thus creating the Fresno-Quebec rule (FQR).
METHODS: Patients presenting to the ED with an anterior shoulder d

STUDY DESIGN: Case report.
OBJECTIVE: To describe the surgical technique and outcome of 2 cases of lap-shoulder belt injury involving burst fracture at L5 and cauda equina syndrome (CES).
SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA: Lap-shoulder belts have largely replaced lap belts in the front seats of cars, and therefore the concept of seat belt injury needs re-evaluation.
METHODS: Two adults, the driver and front seat passenger in the same car involved in a collision, sustained lap-shoulder belt injury. One developed L5 Denis type A burst fracture and the other developed L5 Denis type B burst fracture.

INTRODUCTION: Bilateral shoulder dislocation are most commonly posterior type. These are most commonly due to seizure disorder and electrocution. Anterior shoulder dislocations occurring bilaterally without any predisposing factors are very rare. These types of injuries are due to trauma with a unique mechanism of injury. To best of our knowledge there are only few cases of similar kind are reported in literature. We hereby report a interesting case of posttraumatic, bilateral anterior dislocation of shoulder without associated fracture in a 45 old women without any predisposing pathoanatomy.

CASE: We report the case of a 27-year-old man who presented after a 30-foot fall with a hemopneumothorax, multiple rib fractures, and left shoulder dislocation with greater tuberosity fracture. During attempted arthroscopic repair, the patient developed pulseless electrical activity arrest as the result of intraoperative tension hydrothorax. We hypothesize that this was caused by a traumatic soft-tissue communication to his shoulder joint from the apex of his lung.
CONCLUSION: To our knowledge, this is a unique and unreported complication of shoulder arthroscopy and should increase awareness

BACKGROUND: Proximal humeral fractures are commonly observed in elderly patients. Management of these injuries is controversial. Literature comparing locking plate fixation, arthroplasty, and conservative treatments show no clear advantages for any of these management strategies. Thus far, no study has considered anatomically reduced fractures obtained after locking plate treatment. To clarify the best surgical procedure in middle-aged patients, we considered outcomes and major complications leading to surgical revision following an anatomically reduced fracture fixed with locking plate and re

Objective: We present a case of middle-shaft clavicle stress fracture after push-ups in a nonathletic adult. Patient: A 34-year-old healthy male, who did hundreds of push-ups every day for over 4 months, developed a sudden exacerbation of shoulder pain and mid-clavicular swelling, in the setting of approximately one week of prodromal pain. Plain radiographs of the clavicle revealed a minimally displaced midshaft fracture. A middle-shaft clavicular stress fracture was diagnosed based on the patient's history and clinical findings. Conclusion: To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of

BACKGROUND: Shoulder dislocations and elbow dislocations are common presentations to the emergency department (ED). Simultaneous ipsilateral elbow and shoulder dislocations are rarely reported and typically occur secondary to trauma.
CASE REPORT: A 45-year-old female presented to the ED after a fall from standing and complained of upper right extremity pain. Radiographs revealed posterior dislocation of the right elbow and anterior dislocation of the right shoulder without fractures. Successful reduction of the elbow and shoulder were both achieved, and the patient was placed in a long-arm sp

INTRODUCTION: Clavicle fractures in adults are increasingly being treated by surgical fixation following reports of symptomatic non-union, malunion and poor functional outcome with conservative treatment. This has led to a similar trend in the management of clavicle fractures in adolescents. This study aims to evaluate the outcome and complications of non-operatively treated clavicle fractures in adolescents.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is a retrospective, single institution study on adolescents aged 13-17 years who sustained a closed, isolated clavicle fracture, between 19972015. Clinical re

INTRODUCTION: The shoulder girdle comprises the scapula, clavicle, proximal humerus, and the soft tissues surrounding these structures. Bone and soft tissue tumors are notably more prevalent in the lower extremity than in the upper extremity. However, the shoulder ranks as the third most common site for primary tumors, following the hip-pelvis and knee.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study conducted a retrospective examination of patients who presented with pain and swelling in the shoulder and its vicinity. The evaluation was carried out using a multidisciplinary approach by the Bone and Soft T

Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty was developed in the late 1980s for elderly patients with rotator cuff arthropathy. Several biomechanical advantages of the reverse shoulder arthroplasty result in improved deltoid function, which improves shoulder motion and function compared to other types of shoulder arthroplasty. The main indication for the reverse prosthesis is painful rotator cuff tear arthropathy. The indications for reverse shoulder arthroplasty have continued to expand since it was first performed in the United States in 2004. Although the results of reverse total shoulder arthropla
