A 61-year-old man with abdominal pain and nausea was diagnosed as having sigmoid colon cancer invading the ileum, ureter, internal iliac artery, and external iliac vein. This clinical report describes a patient with sigmoid cancer who underwent a laparoscopic-assisted sigmoidectomy while also having an unsuspected carcinoma of cecum. We discuss the necessity of a complete preoperative evaluation (total colonoscopy and barium enema) in patients with colon cancers amenable to treatment by laparoscopic approach.

Autometastasis of colon cancer to the intestinal mucosa is a condition that has not been previously described. The 70-year-old man presented in this case report was seen for routine surveillance colonoscopy 14 months after low anterior resection, without anastomosis, of a Dukes' stage C mucinous adenocarcinoma of the rectosigmoid. The patient had received adjuvant chemotherapy according to Southwest Oncology Group protocol 8899. The routine colonoscopy revealed many new polypoid lesions in the remaining left and transverse colon, and the patient underwent completion total abdominal colectomy.

A 49-year-old woman with 45,XO karyotype Turner's syndrome and a recent onset of loose-to-watery stool passage was found to have a sigmoid polyp and adenocarcinoma in the ascending colon. Turner's syndrome is a result of a variety of abnormalities of the X chromosome. There are reports that the risk of malignancy, both gonadal and nongonadal in origin, is increased in patients with such chromosomal defects. Although, diet and heredity play important roles in the etiology of colorectal cancer, the relationship between cancer and certain congenital defects should be taken into account.

Ovarian clear cell adenofibroma is uncommon, and borderline clear cell adenofibroma (low malignant potential) is extremely rare. Three patients with locally advanced sigmoid colon cancer with bladder invasion underwent 8 courses of neoadjuvant chemotherapy to achieve complete resection and bladder preservation. All 3 patients showed tumor shrinkage on abdominal contrast CT, and laparoscopic sigmoid colon resection and partial bladder resection were performed. The therapeutic effects were Grade 3 in 2 cases and Grade 2 in 1 case. All 3 patients received 4 courses of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy, and none of them had recurrence.

Collision tumors of the colon are rare. A 64-year-old man was referred on Emergency County Hospital, Craiova, Romania for the evaluation of intestinal obstruction. Colonoscopy demonstrates the presence of about 9/5 cm sized mass in the rectosigmoid junction. INTRODUCTION: We report a case of recurrence of sigmoid colon cancer in the residual urethra after cysto-prostato-sigmoidectomy.
METHODS/RESULTS: The patient successfully underwent urethrectomy and is currently tumor-free. To our knowledge, this is the first case of recurrence of a non-urothelial malignant tumor in the residual urethra.
