Leptospirosis is a zoonosis caused by bacteria of the genus Leptospira. In cattle, the infection mainly manifests in the genital form. Howev … trol was carried out with the CattleMaster® GOLD FP 5/L5 vaccine, in addition to the application of streptomycin (25 mg/kg) in positive cows. After one year of sanitary management, the CVM PCR was repeated to evaluate the effectiveness of the integrated control. In serology, 58.8% (10/17) of the cows were reactive, with 100% (10/10) for the serogroup Sejroe. I …

Concurrent optical and magnetic stimulation (COMS) combines extremely low-frequency electromagnetic and light exposure for enhanced wound he … 1-mediated magnetotransduction, whereas their influence over photomodulation has not been explored. Streptomycin applied during exposure to light, magnetic fields, or COMS reduced their respective proliferation enhancements, whereas streptomycin added after the exposure did not. Magnetic field exposure and the COMS modality were capable of partially overcoming …

Streptomycin (STR) and dihydrostreptomycin (DSTR) are the typically encountered aminoglycoside (AMG) residues in honey. For AMG analysis, studies in literature involve impractical and expensive applications such as ion-pairing chromatography, immunoassays, pre and post column derivatizations, or SPE approaches. Pretreatments of these methods are toilsome and costly. Herein, one-pot, aqueous in-situ derivatization method was presented as a superior protocol. Time and cost-efficient UHPLC-MS/MS method has been developed, and practical sample preparation was introduced. Satisfactory results were …

Tetracycline, doxycycline, streptomycin and rifampicin were used for prophylaxis of experimental plague in albino mice (Yersinia pestis 231, approximately 1000 LD50). The antibiotics were administered 5 hours after the infection for 5 days. Tetracycline and doxycycline provided survival of 60 to 75% of the animals, while the respective figure for streptomycin and rifampicin was 100%, but streptomycin and rifampicin inhibited development of plague immunity evident from a lower protection index (PI) by 3-4 orders. The PI for the tetracyclines lowered by 2 orders. Simultaneous prophylaxis with th…

Twelve Pasteurella-free Holstein-Friesian calves were used in a study to test the efficacy of a live streptomycin-dependent Pasteurella multocida A:3 and streptomycin-dependent Pasteurella haemolytica A1 vaccine. The calves were inoculated intramuscularly twice at 14-day intervals with either the streptomycin-dependent vaccine, containing 1 X 10(6) colony forming units/mL P. multocida and 4 X 10(8) colony forming units/mL P. haemolytica, commercial bacterin, or phosphate buffered saline. Two weeks following the second vaccination, all calves were challenged by intranasal inoculation of 10(8) T…

A double-blind controlled field trial of live, oral, streptomycin-dependent Shigella sonnei vaccine was begun in an institution with endemic S. sonnei disease. Considerable unexpected child-to-child transmission of the vaccine strains inadvertantly caused the field trial to resemble a mass vaccination campaign. Although S. sonnei accounted for 90% of shigella infections from 1968 to 1971 and three-fourths of the cases occurred in the seven study cottages, S. sonnei disease disappeared following vaccination; epidemiologic features suggest a causal relationship. Clinical S. sonnei disease did no…

OBJECTIVES: Salmonella is recognized globally as a significant foodborne pathogen associated with foodborne outbreaks in both humans and ani … ssified as XDR, with a MAR index of 0.937. Resistance rates were alarmingly high, with 100% against streptomycin, 89.5% against erythromycin, 73.7% against clindamycin, and 63.2% against ampicillin. Among the resistance genes, the aadA1 gene was most prevalent at 100%, followed by sul1 and tetA at 42.1% (n = 8) and 31.6% (n = 6), respectively. The aac(3)-IV ge …

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Chimonanthus salicifolius S. Y. Hu. Is a unique traditional medicinal plant in ancient China, and it can eliminate turbid pathogens with aromatics, clear heat, detoxify, prevent colds and influenza, Xinhua Compendium of Materia Medica records that.
AIM OF THE STUDY: In previous study, we investigated the regulation of ethanol extracts (EEs) from C. salicifolius S. Y. Hu. leaves on three common antibiotics (chloramphenicol, streptomycin, imipenem) by the checkerboard method. The combination exhibited the best synergy among all combinations, which were composed o…
