INTRODUCTION: Vitamin supplementation nearly is universal among patients with cancer, yet the scientific landscape is far more complex. Across decades of research, vitamins have demonstrated profound biological effects ranging from immune activation and ferroptosis modulation to paradoxical tumor promotion.

1 Antipyrine plasma half-life and clearance rates were studied in 19 elderly patients shortly after admission to a geriatric ward and again 2 weeks after a course of dietary supplementation with Vitamins A, B complex, C and D. 2 Antipyrine half-life fell and clearance increased in the nine who had sub-clinical evidence of ascorbic acid deficiency. No correlation was found with other indices of nutritional status. 3 Vitamin supplementation in elderly people with no demonstrable deficiencies did not alter the metabolism of antipyrine.

We present a case of a woman in her 20s who presented to the emergency department with a 1-month history of blurry vision, lower extremity weakness in both legs and progressive numbness involving the feet and anterior chest. This retrospective study was conducted to describe clinical and investigational findings and to determine the effect of thiamine treatment on mortality in patients admitted with acute non-infectious encephalopathy to a hospital in Sikkim between October 2019 and March 2021.
