PURPOSE: To report 3 cases of simultaneous Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK) and aphakic iris-fixated intraocular lens (IOL) implantation in patients with aphakia and bullous keratopathy.

Extended wear contact lenses (EWCL) have been successfully used for the correction of aphakia. Disadvantages of soft EWCL are lens precipitates, lens loss and failure to correct higher astigmatic errors. Early experience with the refractive keratoplasty techniques of José Barraquer--keratophakia and hypermetropic keratomileusis is presented. UNLABELLED: We describe a technique for sutureless intrascleral fixation of a 3-piece intraocular lens (IOL) and custom silicone iris prosthesis complex to address the optical and functional issues of aphakia and aniridia, as well as to restore excellent cosmesis. The 3-piece IOL is anchored to the iris prosthesis using the belt-loop technique. We believe the intrascleral haptic fixation is overall a more robust fixation method in patients with aphakia and aniridia, who are often younger and require a long-lasting anterior segment reconstruction.

To study the risk factors in the development of glaucoma following penetrating keratoplasty, we retrospectively analysed 190 eyes of 185 consecutive patients who had undergone surgery during 1990. The donor button was larger by 0.2 mm and 0.5 mm in phakia and aphakia/pseudophakia patients, respectively. INTRODUCTION: Implantation of scleral fixation intraocular lens for the surgical management of aphakia cases without capsular support is a safe procedure.
METHODS: Prospective study was carried out at Lumbini Eye Institute, Bhairahawa. A total of 32 patients underwent scleral fixation intraocular lens implantation within a period of two years from February 2014 to February 2016.

We retrospectively evaluated the long-term surgical outcomes of congenital cataract in eyes with microcornea, including both aphakic and pseudophakic eyes.
