The effects of sodium salicylate, sodium benzoate and 5-bromo salicylate on nerve fibres of the rabbit cervical vagus and of the frog sciatic nerve 'in vitro' were studied and using the single sucrose gap technique. The application of 5-bromo salicylate in concentrations between 2 X 10(-3) to 5 X 10(-3) M induced a slow fall in spike height accompanied by a small hyperpolarization (0.5--2.0 mV). BACKGROUND: Scabies is a contagious infestation affecting subjects of all ages, races, and social conditions.
OBJECTIVE: We report a case of a 79-year-old man who developed a bullous pemphigoid-like eruption. He presented to our unit 4 months after the onset of symptoms. An autoimmune bullous disease was suspected. Direct immunofluorescence on a skin specimen and anti-desmoglein 1, anti-desmoglein 3, and anti-bullous pemphigoid antigen 180 were negative. Surprisingly, the histology of a skin lesion demonstrated the presence of scabies, which was successfully treated with benzyl benzoate 20%.

The combination of diethylpropion hydrochloride with carboxymethylcellulose induces decomposition of the drug. Photodegradation of furosemide was studied under the influence of fluorescent and UV lights. Photodecomposition of furosemide solutions appeared to follow first-order kinetics.
