eHealth tools to assess the neurological function for research, in absence of the neurologist: a systematic review, part II (hardware).

BACKGROUND: Neurological disorders pose a substantial burden worldwide in healthcare and health research. eHealth has emerged as a promising field given its potential to aid research, with lower resources. With a changing eHealth landscape, identifying available tools is instrumental for informing future research. A systematic review aimed to map existing software and hardware eHealth assessing neurological signs and/or symptoms for research was conducted. In this second part, the results on hardware are presented. METHODS: We searched for relevant literature using four search engines (PubMed

Global research trend and foci of oral lichen planus: A bibliometric analysis from 2014 to 2023.

BACKGROUND: Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a common oral disease. Currently, there are many controversies surrounding OLP, including etiopathogenesis, diagnostic criteria, and malignant transformation. We employed a bibliometric analysis to delineate the current status, evolving hotspots, and emerging frontiers in OLP research. This methodology provides a macroscopic perspective on the field's development. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We extracted documents on OLP published between January 01, 2014 and December 31, 2023 from the Web of Science Core Collection. VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and Origin were mai

Decolonizing pain and health-related research to advance research and optimize health.

Pain and healthcare inequities persist as consequences of early colonial practices, which plague pain and health-related research today. Colonialism negatively contributes to known inequities among vulnerable marginalized communities. Scientists control overall study design and who participates in research, continuing colonial power practices. Past ethical shortcomings have fostered mistrust in communities. The model proposed advocates for decolonizing pain and health-related research to create shared understandings and collaborations to restore trust. By acknowledging the past, scientists can

Visualize the time dynamics and research trends of macrophage associated periodontitis research from 2004 to 2023: Bibliometrix analysis.

BACKGROUND: Macrophages play an important role in the symptoms and structural progression of periodontitis, and are receiving increasing attention. In recent years, research has shown significant progress in macrophage associated periodontitis. However, there is still lack of comprehensive and methodical bibliometric analysis in this domain. Therefore, this research aims to describe the state of the research and current research hotspots of macrophage associated periodontitis from the perspective of bibliometrics. METHODS: This study collected and screened a total of 1424 articles on macropha

Clinicians' viewpoints on current paradigms of care and research in Parkinson's disease.

Aim of this review is to discuss the value of current ongoing research initiatives in Parkinson's disease from the clinicians' point of view. The repeat, recent failures on progress slowing reflect the drifting apart between initially promising experimental and then disappointing clinical outcomes in the translational trials with well selected Parkinson's disease patients. A similar development concerns the emerging gap between novel developed drugs with improved pharmacokinetic behaviour and their limited use in the clinical practice following approval. Restricted regional different worldwide

ACCORD (ACcurate COnsensus Reporting Document): A reporting guideline for consensus methods in biomedicine developed via a modified Delphi.

BACKGROUND: In biomedical research, it is often desirable to seek consensus among individuals who have differing perspectives and experience. This is important when evidence is emerging, inconsistent, limited, or absent. Even when research evidence is abundant, clinical recommendations, policy decisions, and priority-setting may still require agreement from multiple, sometimes ideologically opposed parties. Despite their prominence and influence on key decisions, consensus methods are often poorly reported. Our aim was to develop the first reporting guideline dedicated to and applicable to all…

Current status and prospects of congenital adrenal hyperplasia: A bibliometric and visualization study.

BACKGROUND: Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is increasingly prevalent, leading to a surge in related research. To pinpoint emerging trends and recommend future directions, a bibliometric analysis of relevant CAH literature was performed. METHODS: From January 1, 2000, to October 1, 2023, we searched the Web of Science Core Collection for CAH literature. For the bibliometric analysis, tools such as VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and the R package "bibliometrix" were employed. RESULTS: The United States and England are at the forefront among 113 countries, contributing 5034 papers to CAH research.
